My worry is that we still have the same forward line that couldn't score goals last season. I'm happy enough with the rest, but our downfall last season was a lack of goals and we've done nowt to rectify that, in fact we're missing the greedy cnut Borini so we're a man down up front.
For Borini read Giacchorini two similar players with the latter a little less excitable in front of goal.
Agree to an extent, but we're still no further forward than last season with the strikers are we? Apart from Fletcher being fit, we haven't added anyone.
You know what I'm hoping for MW? We actually get the ball to Fletcher IN THE BOX during free play. Far to often we are giving him the ball outside the box and expecting him to beat two or three defenders. He isn't that sort of player, he is an instinctive striker. And yes I know someone will be sitting reading my ****e and saying there were a couple of times recently where he could have passed the ball, for a possible chance. That just isn't his game. He is more than capable of control an taking out a defender and hitting the target. Lets get the ball to him. FFS! Bent needed 9 or 10 chances to take one. Because he was taking one or two chances for us, we totally ignored his horrendous misses. Since he left us he looks like he needs 20 chances to take 1. If Gus can sort his formation out, what we have is more than capable of supplying goals if they get the delivery. Wickham isn't a winger. Get Buckley out there, Giac in for Larsson and I honestly believe we will get the supply to the forwards.
Haven't got any worries about Fletcher cos as you rightly say, give him the right service and he WILL score goals, he's a natural. My worry is if he gets injured, our back-up is Altidore, we should have strengthened the front line and we failed yet again.
You will get no arguments from me there mate. Bloody hell Jozy if you get your chance, take it with both hands and make me eat humble pie. Trust me I will relish it.
Its all about getting the right players into the right system, just watch Gus sort it out, he did last year (just) and he will do it again. Keep the faith.
