Alright, after 2 or 3 years of lurking thought I'd post as I've just read Jos Hooiveld's Wikipedia page. Had me in stitches!

"Jos Hooiveld (Dutch pronunciation: [jɔs ˈhoːifɛlt]; born 22 April 1983) is a Dutch footballer who plays for English side Norwich as a centre back. Hooiveld is known for his strong physical performances. Build in the frame of a mountain, Jos was recently linked with a move to FC Barcelona but decided that he would tear up the league with his awesomeness, leaving the likes of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in his wake. Jos doesn't use beard trimmers because he's a trend setter and almost certainly would look less manly without one, Jos therefore is a tank and could single handedly destroy any team with and would leave the likes of Eden Hazard in his wake, trembling with fear.

Jos and Johan Elmander are good friends and regularly exchange phone calls as to how to they should go about terrorising defenders with their beards. Tim Howard was rumoured to have rung the pair for advice as his beard was never quite as awesome as he thought it was and this left Jos feeling good about himself knowing he had done a good deed."

I agree that Tettey has been fantastic, but I actually think that Johnson is now impossible to leave out. His positioning and awareness is by far the best of our central midfielders. He is really very disciplined and more consistent. When you add that to his seemingly miraculous ability to avoid being yellow-carded despite multiple fouls, as a purely defensive midfielder he is, to my mind, head and shoulders above the others. I worry that without Johnson our midfield shape could go seriously awry.

In the Prem, the problem was his passing. This seems to be much less of a problem at Championship level (and/or his passing has improved). Johnson has also always had good vision and an eye for a pass, along with a willingness to try the wonder ball. Unfortunately, too often his ability to execute his vision has been found wanting. However, this season he seems to have improved that part of his game too. When you add on his sudden ability to aim for the goal rather than row Z (not just the two he's scored, but he's drawn a decent save in pretty much every game), he really does seem to have come on leaps and bounds. He had also always been more of a set piece threat than either Tettey or Howson (I don't think I've ever seen either of those two head the ball!)

So this season, I am Bradders' no.1 fan (in case you had the noticed...) and I do not think he should be dropped unless his form seriously dips. The time he should be taken off is if we are chasing the game and want all out attack.

fair post rob. i actually think adams will stick with both of them (if fitness allows). it does give us a solid base. just think we need a little more invention against some of the weaker sides which won't require both and i think tettey brings more, overall, to the party than johnson though happy to see johnson playing superbly well so far.

I like the line up supers but I think it fits more of a 4-3-3 not 4-2-3-1. Also after all the fuss about hooper leaving it's funny that people don't consider him starting.

it is a 4-3-3 really. i always lay them out in the more defensive 4-5-1 though. essentially it is both! i think hooper will start once over his injury but i'd like to try redmond right, lafferty up top and grabban left first.

thats strange, considering your 1st team could only beat us by one goal, which was offside, plus a free kick, plus it all came about by a defensive cock up.

    mmmmmmmmmmmm!

but we did beat you, no? is 1-0 not allowed in guru's world of football? what's to say, looking at the strength spread out across two potential city sides that both wouldn't beat the ipswich first team 1-0? there's no logic to what you are saying

How was the transfer window for Ipswich?

Did you make enough cash to re-paint the turnstiles again? I heard you did and also had some left over to service your debts! Wow!

i agree the goal was offside (though your defending was so bad i reckon the lino was laughing too hard to notice) but are you seriously suggesting we won because of luck? i'll be honest with you, i was almost embarrassed that we only beat you 1-0 the other day. had we played at anything like our full potential i think the 1-5 would have been beaten. not sure if ipswich just had a bad day at the office or what (i know norwich did) but that was a seriously poor ipswich side.

ps. you'll be bringing in jonny williams on loan, so i hear <ok>

having said that, mings was arguably ipswich's best player against us.

    says it all!
