In my book you need to be in the world cup best 11 to be world class, therefore the only world class player in the PL is ROJO(ok and Oscar)!!!!! shame Utd are going to play him at CB though as he's only world class at LB!
My definition of world class would be; any player that wouldn't look out of place playing at any club in the world.
Who's Yaya Youre? Any relation to Kolo Youre? I'm with RB on this one, I think the term world class is ridiculously subjective (some even think Rooney is ffs ) If I was the fourth best right back in the world (Flanagan ) I'd like to think I was a world class right back. If someone had just bought me for £30million and I was the worst left back at my club I'd still think I was world class. In fact everyone who plays Saturday or Sunday league footy thinks they're world class. We're all world class in our own way #goodmood #sunshine For the record I'd like to add the entire German team to the list of World Class.....as it's a team game. #machine #neuer
Ronaldo would like out of place at Acrington But yes your right. A player who would get in to any team. Or as I usually word it: 1 of the top 2 or 3 players in there position in the world.
surely "not out of place at any" should actually read not look out of place at Real madrid, Barca and Bayern now? Therefore anyone leaving said clubs cos they can't get a game like ozil, sanchez and di maria therefore are no longer worldies (even though they are top top players) Cos lets face it.. only rejects from them sign for utd (i see falcao said utd were not first choice and we all know who were)
Yeah it's stupid, instead of talking about how Sterling has the "potential to be #worldclass in the future" we can instead have the far more interesting conversation about how he is actually destroying the PL right now in the present. Last year I stated Sterling was miles ahead of Januzaj and people actually argued. At first. This year I said Sterling will be a top 10 player in the PL. Once again #historywillabsolveme
I used to look at it like that but then, certain positions get a higher volume of quality players. Using CF as an example; Messi, Suarez, Falcao, Imbrahimovic, Benzema, Aguero, etc. None of them would look out of place at any of the top clubs in the world but they can't all be top three or four for their position.
Basically the same thing PS...I've also noticed that when the papers report that Man Utd weren't his first choice they only mention Man City and Arsenal as previous candidates too.
but when we were linked to him guillem ballague in his infinite wisdom said the guy was waiting for Real. If we assume this is ture united might have got a good deal perhaps.... or not.. depnding on perofrmance as always.
he cost little enough but has massive massive wages. if he's a little bit better than rooney (easy) and as good as yaya I guess thats the standard. 30+ goals? poty? well i reckon 20 goals is the first target.
Similar things have been mooted this morning still too. One article made me laugh. It said that Man City had been negotiating but couldn't reach a agreement, when Man Utd decided to make a move they just agreed to everything #bentoverandpresentedthemancunianarsetofalcao
That how I would roughly define that over used and unprecise word. I would go further and say a player "who can and would perform at a high standard in more than one team and make truly outstanding contribution to his team". When we have see a truly outstanding "World Class" player, we cannot be in any doubt and there are no discussion or debate. The likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Zlatan are those. But there are more WC players below them. For City: I would class Aguero, Toure (Definitely for me) , Kompany, Zabaleta (arguably) as WC For Chelsea: Mourinho (definitely), Hazard, Costa (arguably) For Liverpool: Gerrard (very very arguably) For Arsenal: Ozil (definitely) Ramsay (potentially/arguably) Sanchez (arguably) For United: LVG (arguably) Falcao Di Maria (definitely) RVP Rooney (both declining so arguably) Football is a game of opinion. No two people will see the same thing or judge a player the same way. I cannot see how henderson and Allen can be seen as world class. Not Terry who played well for Chelsea. De Gea is not world class yet.
We have no world class players in our squad - we have a well balanced team with very good players with huge potential. This is not a criticism of the team btw. I don't consider Hazard world class - lot of potential to become so, but he's inconsistent for me and goes missing far too often. Ramsay is another one who flatters to deceive - a very good player with a lot of potential though. Rooney has never been world class IMO - he's a top player though.
Men’s shortlists for the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2013 The following 23 men (in alphabetical order) are in contention for the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2013: Gareth Bale (Wales), Edinson Cavani (Uruguay), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Radamel Falcao (Colombia), Eden Hazard (Belgium), Zlatan Ibrahimović (Sweden), Andrés Iniesta (Spain), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Robert Lewandowski (Poland), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Thomas Müller (Germany), Manuel Neuer (Germany), Neymar (Brazil), Mesut Ãzil (Germany), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Franck Ribéry (France), Arjen Robben (Netherlands), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany), Luis Suárez (Uruguay), Thiago Silva (Brazil), Yaya Touré (Côte d’Ivoire), Robin Van Persie (Netherlands), Xavi (Spain).
Has Rojo actually sealed the deal yet? His visa is being held up and I haven't heard yet that it's been approved.
So pretty much the regular candidates then. Who do people reckon the final three will be? Messi, C.Ronaldo and who...?
that's kind of nailed the "WC" debate. Is it top2/3 or top6/10 in their postion. Who knows but you'd have to say there is no s**t in that list Some of them are past their peak but at their best they are all players, fans would be very happy to have at their clubs!
It wouldn't offer a great team though, only one CB in T.Silva! Least you could pick Lahm and Bale as FBs although the latter wouldn't make the shortlist if considered as a LB.
