Optimistically hoping this doesn't degenerate, but the influence and knowledge of Steve Bruce got the players interested, but the backing from the board made it happen. <ok>

They've spent beyond our means and that can only mean one thing - growing the debt and tightening the noose around our necks.

Forgive me for being very skeptical about their intentions but I'm sure my distrust is well deserved.

I don't know quite how to take that..

I hope that when AA carks it, we can still afford the inheritance tax. Maybe by that time, we will be floated on LSE and be able to buy shares.

My rough, back of a fig packet calculations, show spending last season (whole of) to have been around £20 million on transfers and net spending this window of around £25, not a big difference considering we made a profit last year, we have new shirt sponsorship and the hike in season ticket prices. Our wage bill will have gone up but should be covered by the TV money.

I have the impression of the Allams that they work out how much they can spend, spend it and not a penny more. I don't think our debt will be going up, but it won't be coming down by much either. They don't give the impression of following Bartlett and spending money the club or themselves haven't got.

Unless he finally removes the elephant from the room the distrust will remain. Teams come and go, even successful ones, but our name is the link between the first generation of City supporters and the next.

Purely on business terms, I think you are wrong. Hull City is no longer dependent on its supporters for its survival, it depends on tv money and in order to generate the ability to pay back the investments made, we have to be fighting for a place in the upper reaches of the PL. The days of being happy to watch as we grind out results to avoid the drop are seemingly over. The Allams may have got somethings wrong, but they have been quick to learn the business of football.

The day will come when Steve Bruce is shown the door, the gamble is there, nowhere else. If we have borrowed beyond our means, it is because Steve Bruce asked for the money, don't blame the Allams for supporting him. He has just over 4 months to show that he has spent the Allams money wisely, if we are floundering in the lower levels of the PL at the break, then you can peddle this stuff, but until then, sit back and relish the thought of the matches to come.

To be honest, I do find your stance a little boring now.

Absolute bollocks, every manager will ask for as much as possible, its the chairman's responsibility to ensure that what money is spent is sustainable and within the clubs means.

Well it's starting to look like the price increases weren't such a bad idea as I can see plenty wanting to watch a team play as well as this one may well do.

Let us not forget that this season is worth £14M more than last. Then add £12M+£3M in and out transfer pot was £29M and we spent £34.5M. Not as much as it sounds when you factor in all that.

To put together the squad we have, with a net spend of £21.25m, is very good business.

A top ten finish would see us recoup half that outlay, making it easily affordable(as long as our wage bill hasn't gone completely off the scale).

I'm also grateful to the Allam's for the support they've shown Bruce, just leave the name alone now, there's good chaps.

Unless things go badly wrong on the field over the next few months and Bruce asks for more funds for players, I would have thought that the 25 million figure will be lower by the end of the January window. I am sure some players will move on and, as Boyd showed, we have players on the fringes of the squad, let alone the core of the squad, that clubs will pay decent money for. And we have got a lot of wages off the books this summer as well. As long as we have relegation clauses in the contracts, I can't see how the current spending is reckless.

I agree I think the support they've shown Bruce in this window is remarkable and we've done some brilliant business IMHO even bringing in a fellow Uruguayan to help Hernandez settle. Let's hope they all settle.

Well done to the Allam's. (I've not said that for a while :emoticon-0102-bigsm)

If it stays quiet on the name change front, and we don't get told to die or whatever, then life will be perfect.

I think you have failed to understand that my post was in response to Mr Hats

If we (Hull City) are borrowing from Allamhouse, who is responsible for both, the Chairman. Who advises him in footballing matters and player purchases, Steve Bruce.

It has to be said I'm still amazed we got £3m for Boyd (much as I quite like him).

That's outstanding business. Basically swapping him for Diame (wages aside, probably) is brilliant.

These figures you're all banding about are very basic and don't take into account the cut the league takes from each sale (5%) any sell on fees (Long's was reported at 5%, no idea about Gyppos), loyalty payments as neither requested a transfer.

And on the incomings there's agent fees, signing on fees and any loan fees we paid for Ben Affrey and Ramirez.

That lot will make a big difference when accounted for, but obviously we fans can't figure it out as we've no idea what most of those figures are.

Then there's the wage bill, which is bound to be enormous now. I wonder how much of each of the loanees wages we've picked up?

There's also all the off pitch overheads which will be a considerable amount. Allam has to have put some more money in.

Edit: it also completely ignores the tribunal fee for Tom Ince, has that been sorted yet and any idea what we actually ended up paying?

I reckon we'll see a few leave in january with not many coming in. And i doubt we'll spend this much again for the next half decade unless we look like relegation fodder, just raking in the tv money and sponsorship from being a middle of the pack prem team.

Its a gamble that we won't be in the dogfight, but without investment its a gamble that we won't go down.

Looking at the football we've played thus far this year, i'm glad we've gone down this route.

The Allam's deserve MASSIVE credit for the way they continue to back SB

We have a very capable squad now with competition for places.

The Gaston Rameriez deal was a clever piece of business, now Hernandez has a Countryman/buddy to help him settle here. There will be Goals!
