Carroll's saved wages basically went into Tiote's new contract.

We can however, add any fee + wages for Smith, Xisco (40k rumoured), Perch, Routledge etc.

Perhaps, but then the club owes him a substantial amount of money and he has to get it back eventually, one way or another.

We got £35 million for Carrol but dont forget his wages at approx £40k a week and Nolans at £50k a week. This is saved revenue that would cover the wages of the new players thus we cant take the wages into account.

I still think we have £30 million to reinvest in this transfer window and the Jan transfer window.

And I didnt take anyone elses wages into account who either leave or have left for the simple fact that I believe the 3 players coming in will be on about the same as the players going out!

I'm sure I've read somewhere along the way that as the Carroll £35m would
be "invested back into the club" it would cover player fees and other likely
running costs but I also see this covering the under pitch heating at Benton
for the squad training on those bitter winter days when the ground would
usually be like cast iron and just as likely to crock a key player - probably
how NUFC and SAFC have such ropey injury records over the Winter months?

Sounds like a decent move and apparently a priority Pardew wanted to sort
to bring up the standard of the club's facilities - apparently even 'privacy' fencing
etc was mentioned too which I guess could keep a chill off those delicate
latin players. Figures I've seen are anywhere in the region of £2m easy for
a start but where this kinda thing starts where does it stop?

Extravagant redecorating and renaming Shearer's Bar?

More creative avenues for advertising space to fill with "sample" Sports Direct logos?

Wider network of scouts to follow prospective players were there any money
    available to buy them?

    Greggs franchise at SJP?

Sponsorship for troupe of really fit buxom cheerleaders...

the world is Ashley's oyster but I wonder if any of it will buy in top class players

I can honestly see 2 more players "purchases" made now.
Hopefully those will be N'Zog and Erdinc.
However i expect us to sign 2-3 players on Friday when players contracts come to an end and can join on free transfers.
If they are of the same standard as Marveaux and Ba then i'll be as happy as a pig in s**t.

    very fair point.

we shouldnt obsess over the 35 number, it will be added to an existing pool of money.

personally im really chuffed so far, i dont think this window could be going much better, i was even happy with the nolan sale.

You really have to hand it to Mike Ashley - he's got you all scrabbling 'round with your calculators trying to work out just where all the money is going...<laugh>

Cabaye was paid for by the Nolan transfer and our other signings were on Bosman's. So far he has spent NOTHING on transfer fees. Do any of you honestly think that Newcastle United as a business is reliant on that £35m? We have a massive turnover here but Uncle Mike is well and truly pulling the wool over your eyes...<ok>

Stockholm Syndrome or what? <laugh> ...enjoy.

I dont care if all the money is spent or not, I will judge our dealings on the quality of player we bring in. not our net spend.

    Is Luke Edwards on Not606?
    He just Tweeted this:

    LukeEdwardsTele Luke Edwards
Part of Carroll money used to pay for Merveaux wages and signing fee + signing fee for Ba + £2m agent fee. Shd still be £15-20m left?

    LukeEdwardsTele Luke Edwards
We'll never actually know breakdown of #nufc spending but Nolan, Campbell off wage bill so made room for Ba and, say Cabaye. Merveaux extra

i think this is rather silly to be honest, i doubt mike will invest 35m but why are we moaning when the transfer window officially opens tomoorow (1st jul) and we havnt spent 35 m yet. this 35m we got from carrol does not need to be spent on new players, we have offered simpson a new deal, enrique has been offered a huge deal apprantly and nolan and barton both rejected contracts all this would have taken a good few mill off that 35 already. but why are we in such a rush to spend it? we are being linked with multiple targets pardew said we offered gamiro a huge deal with a fee belived to be around 10m we were in for gervinho for the same price plus are likely to be at least one of the clubs who have had their bids rejected for mbeng and emana (spell check?).

we dont need to piss it all away quickly if we did we would only moan we couldnt afford a player when one was available and we wanted to sign him. as a club it looks like we are in the hunt for our first choice transfer targets such as marveaux ( chasing since last year apparently) cabaye, gameiro etc. and we are bidding for them we have got 2 very good players in cabaye and marveaux who are capable at playing at better clubs but have come here, im delighted and we cant blame the club just beacuse we havnt spent a huge amount all ready.

all that said i doubt we will spend 35m unless we are offloading enrique and barton, i dont see mike spending all that 35m i bet some will go in his pocket but he is the owner and like it or not he sorted this club out financially and took a hell of a lot of stick doing it. i am actually fairly chuffed at the moment happiest mag iv been in a while

This ^. We have two months to go, the window hasn't even opened yet but we already have three good new additions and are heading in the right direction.

Don't understand the need to grub around for something negative to think about all the time.

As far as I am concerned I think there are positive signs that we are looking to strengthen in all the right areas and that we are looking to do it without breaking the bank unnecessarily. If we get the quality players we need I hope we do it spending as little as possible and I do not want us to spend £35m (or even £25m) unless we absolutely have to. If it isn't spent we can use it in another window after all!

If it isn't spent, think of the interest it'll be earning!!!!!!

We can sign players, they just can't be registered to the club until tomorrow.

Are they really good additions? Cabaye was practically unheard of before we signed, although i'm not saying he is bad but he'll have to do a lot to match Nolan's goal return before he proves a good signing. The other two players both have questionable fitness.
