    On paper, yes.
On the pitch i'm still undecided, but erring towards no.

There is nothing wrong with the positions we've filled, and the players we've bought. But the team seems a bit rudderless on the pitch.

Sale of Sandro. No obvious CM playmaker other than Eriksen.
    Unhappy.

No, not really. My favourite player (Sandro) gone. Enjoyed seeing Holtby as well - hope it's a loan to return, but I heard Hamburg have an option to buy. I am amazed with all the improvements around us (apart from Arsenal :emoticon-0136-giggl) we ended up making a profit. I really don't get that. The Liverpool game showed us we are not able to compete with the big boys, and unless Stambouli turns out to be a revelation, then we are less likely to compete after it.

We have needed a leader upgrade since King left really. Hopefully this Stambouli fella has some of those qualities.

Its more likely to be Fazio i think. At least he's coming from a top league. I'm not convinced by the French league, but i won't rule out Stammy

Thats the word that sums us up. "hopefully". Hopefully Pochettino will be a success. Hopefully our players will perform, Hopefully we won't get hammered again by the top four. That is why I'm not happy as its all hope. Mainly false hope.

It's a strange one isn't it? I think Poch is hoping Lamela will play more centrally, more often. Hence Holtby going. I figure that Sandro is too much of a one trick pony for Poch's plans, and not the same after injury. I really hope that Poch has a master plan, and selling turns out to be genius.

Yep, I agree. HOPE is the operative word for this season, more than most.

It's also a bit strange because for once I can't really say who I'd have most liked to come in at this point.

    Wellbeck?!? Rodriguez?

Gutted Sandro has gone, my favourite player and in my opinion our best midfielder. Injuries and manager preferences ended up costing us a very good player.

Overall though, relatively happy. Strengthened LB and CB, hopefully replaced Sandro's loss to an extent with Stambouli, though time will tell. And we may have uncovered a gem in Dier.

For me, the most important thing for this season was having a manager good enough to work with this squad, that was pivotal in my opinion as AVB and Sherwood weren't good enough to handle the players in the right way for various reasons. Poch came in knowing he was going to have to work with the majority of the squad without wholesale changes, it was said he was appointed with the aim of working with and improving the fortunes of these players and I believe with time, he can do just that.

Although I never said it much on the transfer thread, perhaps a striker - even if it were a loan - could've been handy, especially with Ade going to ACON in January but I'm not devastated at not getting one in. A lot of talk on here about a creative player, while in principle I could agree, I'd have to ask 1) what position would they play and who would they play instead of? and 2) who out there was available and an improvement on what we have?

On the whole, as I said I'm relatively happy. Sandro's departure hit hard but hopefully in Capoue and Stambouli we have players who can somewhat fill the void.

Personally, I would have gone for Bony. He is a very dangerous striker, IMO. Yes, we would have had to pay up, but he's worth the reported £8mill more than Welbeck.

Surely everything (or nearly) is about hope though Bossman?

If we got van Gaal (who seemed number 1 target for most) or any other manager we'd have hoped that he'll be the one to take us to our desired level, just like we do with Poch.

With the players, both current and new ones we'd have hoped/ hope they'll come good.

And with results, we'll always hope things go our way, especially against the top sides.

Nothing in football is guaranteed mate, gotta have a bit faith :D
