Well whether you think it's a good price or not - the risk is over for the club. Maybe we've cashed our chips in too soon but from what we've actually seen on the pitch weve mugged Sunderland. It could go much more horribly wrong for the lad himself. If he can't up his performance then he's not going to be a regular starter - and much worse could happen to his career should Sunderland slump out of the Premier League or even if they just falter in the lower reaches with Connor warming the bench it'll be hard to see Liverpool or Spurs come knocking. It's entirely feasible that the Black Cats could face the drop next season, certainly Wickham is no replacement for Bent's goals at the present time. It's all ifs and maybes at the moment, but I would say there's a 50/50 chance that the lad has just thrown his career down the toilet.
Wouldn't go that far Hampy. He is probably better off getting more regular footie at Sunderland that sitting on the bench behind the relatively young pairing of Carroll and Suarez biding his time. So long as they don't expect too much too soon and the fans take to him well he should be ok.
not a chance sunderland getting relegated m8,we'll leave that 2 the 3 promoted teams, also wickham won't start every game that's for sure, but i'd expect him to maybe start 15/20 games and all the cup games and won't be under any pressure to score many goals and despite your concerns it's a very good move for the lad, he's in good hands
Please. Don't you worry about young Connor. He's just got himself a massive promotion. If he's as good as the experts say then we are laughing. If not then we (SAFC) have a problem. To put your mind at rest though. We all think he'll do very well. Very well indeed.
