Can I ask why? All summer, they've been telling us to judge them at the end of the transfer window. Right now, our situation looks pretty good. They've brought in a good manager, like Ralph said they would. The money from sales has been reinvested, like Ralph said it would. Schneiderlin and Rodriguez are still saints players, like Ralph said they would be. I know we have a duty to examine what the board does to see if it's the best thing for the club, but I don't think there should be any more doubt.
All except 3 back up GKs and McQueen have been capped at some level for their country. That's 15 full Internationals, 5 U21s and 3 U19s.....Yeah, I would say that we've done ok. 2 Internationals for each position.
I'm not doubting the board, I'm doubting Ralph as the right man to be chairman of our club. I still have reservations about him because I don't think he has quite got his head around football and it's strange and wonderful intricacies yet. But he's certainly learning it would seem.
This is why I like the 'wait and see' approach. I had faith in this board, and I'm glad that I feel rather vindicated for it.
No, I thought he initially came across very poorly. An opinion that going by his disappearance for a long stretch (training anyone?) I think was probably shared by those with greater influence than I. As a result, he needs to work his way back up in my estimations. That's all.
Positivity is very often met with scepticism. I have a bit of a Krueger approach in my work and I know some people think "prick" when I get excited and say too much sometimes, but hey, I can live with that.
Possibly. But if last years first 11 went one goal down, then it's game over. I am very happy with what the board has done and I was prepared to take what they said at face value. We now have a board which keeps its word and a manager who tells it like it is. We have a strengthened squad who want to be here. What's not too like?
There's a difference between positivity and enthusiasm and 'prick' though FLT. Positivity and enthusiasm should be applauded, but when he first arrived, I (and you) were deeply suspicious of him. I'm taking a little longer perhaps to give him the full seal of approval. He's not there yet for me, but as I say, he's learning.
I had my doubts at first, chambers leaving was a low point, but it can't be denied that the Board have stuck to their word and done very well.
What you need to do is compare last years squad players to this years squad players. Those on the bench/top of the reserves. Would Guly be further down the pecking order? Yes. I doubt he would get on the bench in today's squad. Jos? Sent out on loan as is now surplus to requirements rather than being a bit part player as he was last season. Remember he started away at Arsenal last November. Gaston. Surplus to requirements. Split views on this but the fact Ron feels we can let a player like him go out on loan to another Prem club (wether he fits the system or not) I think speaks volumes about our depth. Overall. We have a stronger football club. If you had to rate each player in the 25 out of 100 for this year and last then I'm confident the average would now be higher than it was 12 months ago. COYR
From Simon Peach So Tadić, Pellè, Bertrand, Forster, Long, Gardoș, Alderweireld & Mané have all joined #SaintsFC - if Carlsberg did meltdowns... My exact thoughts. We are just really poor at this meltdown malarky, even when we put ourselves in the best position for it.
