Valley Just advising TB that I was not referring to him. It appears he has chosen to ignore this. In my opinion, I felt that plastic was replying to another post entirely (post 42. ) I've told TB this, its up to him now. No problem buddy
All I can say is Plastic, don't become a detective, a psychic, or any such occupation where you need to read people, because you are no good at it. I share the exact same feelings as Dragon, yet I am really happy with our start, would have to be a fool to not be happy. I mean Monk has won his first 3 games, am happy for the bloke, Dyer has scored 3, he must be loving it right now, as am I seeing the smile on his face. The way Siggy is playing is amazing, and although Bony hasn't scored he has been so instrumental in our wins by taking out defenders. But also IMO you would have to be a fool not to be a bit more realistic about what we have faced, or notice some places we could improve. The one thing that has bothered me since last season, is Monk's half time team talk, whatever he is doing, its not working, surely you can see that too? We seem to back off, slow the pace of the game, and its been a constant since last season. Does that stop me being happy? No, but I am also not at a point where I chose to bury my head and pretend its not happening. You seem to be in that place where you cannot even talk about anywhere that the club can improve. Do you think we can improve? If so, where? Oh wait, no don't answer that, you will have to class yourself as being a miserable sod who is not happy with our start if you did, all because you have spoken about issues in us getting there. Heck Chelsea beat Everton 6-3, do you think Mourinho was happy conceding 3? Even in a win, you can find ways to improve, but we don't have to wait for a loss or draw to discuss those points. So whilst you ask me to cheer up, I will ask you to pull your head out of the sand, and join the likes of myself, Dragon, and our manager for that matter, who will still be looking at ways we can improve even in victory, unfortunately though, Monk can do things about it, we can only discuss it.
My mistake. I apologise Stumpy. However, Dragonborn is correct. He has written nothing but praise after the first 3 games.....and do you know what? he was much less anti-Monk than I was over the summer. So what is the problem exactly? As I have read lots of praise from Dragonborn your disagreement can only be over something subtle, like tone. We should debate/argue each others points not tell each other what to think or how to express themselves (unless we're talking racism) If I came on here everyday and posted a reply to Plastic's posts telling him he's not cheering/enjoying himself enough Plastic would probably get frustrated and swear at me eventually...that's not vile it's human. Why should Plastic or yourself care so much about whether Dragonborn is enjoying our 3 wins out of 3 as much as you? You can't possibly know how much Dragonborn is enjoying it can you? Yourself and Plastic etc. are free to write threads and posts that start "We are doing wonderful, I'm so happy, we're going to win the league, Monk should be manager of the month etc..." and Dragonborn, myself and others are free to write stuff that starts "We're doing great but...."
No probs, no apology necessary TB, just crossed lines that's all. I think we (I) get a carried away with the views and opinions of others, especially when they don't fit in with my own tiny views. I know I'm one of the worst so I apologies to anyone reading if I come across like dick sometimes, I just truly love my club and I get protective when, rightly or wrongly, I feel that someone is having a pop at us. Personally, I'll be very happy with an uneventful mid-table finish, but right now I'm chuffed to bits. It wont last I know, so I'm making the most of it. No worries TB, we're all good
Swanselona, I have a few issues with your post 88: West Brom are West Brom and Burnley are Burnley. You can only beat what is put in front of you. There are another 10 teams in the PL on a par with them and two-thirds of our games this season will be playing against these sort of teams. So the more optimistic posters on this board are ignoring the failings of the team and must therefore have their heads stuck in the sand? TBH, I find that so condescending! Yes, we all want to keep improving but at least recognise where we are at this moment in time without adding on provisos. It's tiring. Well, it's working in some respects because we keep picking up 3 points. I get your drift, but a game is played by two teams and you can't be dominant for the entire 90 minutes. If the opposition comes at you by pushing more forward, then you have to defend more. The art, of course, is to punish them for their impudence by scoring on the break.

Sorry, but swanselona has a point - you can bet your life Monk's approach will be far more realistic than some. He has publicly stated we can improve - and we can. If you're saying Terror, Swanselona and myself are disloyal or hyper-critical or (yes we've even had this) "not supporting the team" then you may as well be levelling that at Monk - and yes, that's preposterous. I can't say you're wrong for having your heads in the clouds and you can't say we're wrong for being realistic but cut out the jibes about not supporting the team and so on and we should all get along a little better don't you think?
I'm assuming you're talking to me. I find it quite an interesting topic of conversation - psychologists would have a field day on here! It's all being conducted in a civil manner so there should be no problem. I certainly don't think you're disloyal, I DO find you a bit over-critical but at no point have I ever suggested you weren't supporting the team.
