thanks frenchhorn for the insight, but don't think Sannino is in Massimo's plans ... as for Grayson, I can only judge on what I know, and I know that he was tactically inept in his time at Leeds ... three games that stand out for me were the two 3-0 losses to Swindon in our promotion season when we managed to make Barndoor look like a lethal striker, who Grayson then signed instead of Austin ... the other was our 4-6 capitulation from a 4-1 lead against Preston, the worst team in the division that season ... maybe Grayson has improved, but right now it seems Lge One or Scotland is his natural level Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
A bit for you from the local Watford newspaper. "One of those is ex-Brighton & Hove Albion boss Oscar Garcia but we understand the 41-year-old is also in talks with another Championship team, believed to be Leeds United, and a Spanish side".......
Garcia will go to Leeds or Spain ... two horse race between Grayson and Garcia, but Grayson now ruled himself out so ........ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I'm glad that Grayson has ruled himself out, and I think he has only been linked due to Leeds fans flooding the market with bets (for reasons I cant comprehend). As for Garcia, we could do worse (namely Grayson), but is this guy experienced enough for us? He might like to play attractive football, but is that enough?
I can't for the life of me understand why people wouldn't have a manager back who: Had one of the best win ratio's we have had in the past 40 years Got us promoted out of league one Engineered a win at scum Got us to 7th in the championship 3 points off 6th place in first season back up Lost some of his best players, due to the owner being a tw*t, and then got sacked just outside the play-offs. Since then... Got Huddersfield promoted from league one Took Preston from dire straits to the play offs in league one Not that he's going to be coming back any time soon, but i just find it slightly odd.
Grayson did alright, but he still made his fair share of dodgy mistakes, whether it be signings or tactics. He had one of the best teams in the division (and arguably a prem quality midfield, in league one!) which he didn't assemble and still managed to nearly f*ck it up. And sorry, but he took over Huddersfield in the last month of the season with Huddersfield already in the play-offs. Not exactly a miracle that they got promoted. I understand that he had one hand tied behind his back with Bates in charge, but personally, I just think we should be looking in a different direction
RCDM .. Grayson's win ratio was bloated due to us being in Lge One ... with that squad I'd have gotten us promoted, and not signed Paynter
Whoever gets the job needs to have a extra large tongue and doesn't mind chewing on the clinkers on Massive holed 'arris.
Grayson didnt rule himself out. His people contacted MC and we said we didn't want him. A decision that I agree with totally. #scumbag
As your such a massive club, i am suprised Pulis hasnt been battering your door down, personally i think the Watford guy is nailed on for you, however you dont have the players to suite his style.
Reported by Ema Giulianelli on Yorkshire Radio. I posted it a couple of days ago on the 'Odds' thread ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMctQqGZ7To Worth a listen.
Think I'll believe the Pulis story when he says so himself ... funny how Sky and others have not said a dickie bird about Pulis ... not sure about the accuracy of this EG from Italy
He's been spot on about umpteen things, Billy & refuses to speculate, even though he gets lots of requests for it on Twitter.
I will second that jock. Only one I bother to read on twitter. He predicted two weeks back the adryan signing would go ahead but close to transfer window
Seeing as I am trying to do my bit for you all, I thought you might like to hear the latest information coming from down south. Actually it is up north to me, but never mind the details. Jon Marks who is regarded as one of the best commentators in the country and covers all the matches for the club, has tonight been chatting about the goings on at Watford and Leeds on 3 counties radio. He believes that Garcia is tending towards joining Watford in preference to your good selves. Seems that he feels that Watford are in a better position at present, and probably more able at this time to challenge for promotion. He then went on to talking about Beppe Sannino. "Do not be surprised if he goes to Leeds. Massimo knows him and admires his methods and ability." All I can say is that Jon Marks does have inside information. He may be right or not, but it seems to me that it might just happen. Could be many twists to this story yet.
Considering the response I got to making a moderate contribution to your thread on the recent game at Vicarage road, it would be more correct to say WFC supporters don't much like wilfully-blind foul-mouthed Leeds supporters permanently living in the past trying to persuade everyone that Leeds are too good to be where they are and everyone else should be beneath them. Still, to the present - you are clearly not surprised that Garcia turned down your tin-pot little club to go to one clearly going places. On the other hand, your latest hilarious owner might appoint his second Watford reject. Which would be a shame as Sannino is fundamentally a decent man who acted with skill and determination and dignity whilst with WFC, and would find Leeds a considerable culture shock. Having said all that, I nearly hope you can defy the odds of relegation. Nearly hope, as it promises 6 points a season for us, but not quite.
Remind us, why didn't you get to last years playoffs? I suggest you visit the millwall board at the end of the month. You are up for a prize. Guys I can't quote his post above from the I pad can one of you nominate him for the SBA given our wining the last day of the regular season last term kicked them out of the playoff places. Cheers,
