Cheers PNP, I should really learn how to embed pics one of these days. I've been here long enough! @SpursOfficial also say that the Holtby deal is a one year deal with a view to a permanent move. So I guess they have an end-of-loan option.
We have hardly given him a chance - and Fulham fans would disagree with you. Despite being relegated, they rated him their player of the 2nd half of the season.
James Olley ‏@JamesOlley 1m Danny Welbeck is at #afc's training ground. He would prefer joining #afc over #thfc & is trying to force through a deal. Wenger's move now.
Theory being mooted on Twitter RE. Holtby that he was bought as an investment rather than as a player any particular manager wanted. Makes sense when you think about it - Levy is bound to make a few million £s in profit on him, and if he turns out to be a gem of a player then thats just a bonus, and if he doesn't light up the world then what does Levy care if a promising young player's career stagnates for a few years, as long as Levy makes some profit. Leaves a sour taste in the mouth though from a fan's perspective, considering he seems to have a genuine affection for the club and has never given anything less than 100% in any situation. I guess clubs like Chelsea do the same sort of thing on a bigger scale all the time, what with their making extensive use of the loan system and all.
I'm sure they would disagree but Holtby is someone who performs in the Europa League (against weak sides), pre season (when games mean nothing) or for short periods on loan (like at Fulham) because he has a point to prove. As soon as you give a player like a Holtby a run of premier league games, his passes start going wayward, he loses confidence and has little impact so if we're talking long term then he isn't cut out for the premier league (with us anyway). Maybe you can stick him in a side like Hull and he could play 38 games a season, under perform for most of them and pay the occasionally decent game, if thats acceptable then a club should sign him, just for us where we need players to perform at a high level if we want to get anywhere, Holtby just doesn't match the standard required and thats a shame as he is a fab pro and a good character.
I've updated the front page for: Coulibaly Obika Gomelt Stambouli Holtby If anyone knows a rough price for Coulibaly and Obika then I'll update that as well (left it as 'unknown' for the mo)
And one way of increasing the value of a player is to actually have them playing regularly so the buyers market can see what is potentially on offer. Cheating to stand more of a chance of being awarded penalties ?? Stock-piling players and wasting months/years of their careers ?? If Spurs are considering becoming a "if you cannot beat them, join them" club, I'll go and support one of the other Hotspur FCs in the PL.
Piña colada in hand and raised , welcome Mr Strambouli . A sensible positive addition . This may be only the start , a little bird tells me a speedy Senegalese Wonder winger has been signed. Sandra 6 million well done Dan wonderful business.
Generalisations which are unproven as the guy has never had a run of PL games..... Haven't noticed that our existing squad of MF talent has performed at that exalted level consistently either......
Welbeck is having a medical at Arsenal. Looks like our only potential transfer in that had a goal threat is going to our local rivals.
Evening guys. I've been on a course all day that I couldn't get out of. I've literally missed everything all day. Anyone like to round up today's rumours to save me reading 20 odd pages? Just seen that we've officially signed BS, but LH and Sandro are on the way out. I sincerely hope we're up to something, as it feels like we've lost all of our passionate characters in the space of a week.
That's a decent theory Hudd and one that makes some business sense - but like you, I think the concept of 'using' a players career solely for commercial gain is pretty shoddy.....
We've also sold Obika and Coulibaly, loaned out Gomelt and Holtby Sandro stuff is not confirmed yet but is close. Fryers has been at Crystal Palace all day so don't know what the hold up is there. Welbeck is off to Arsenal.
Hold your horses , I am sure there is a Plan B. Don't panic Mr Levy, maybe a new Frazier Campbell could be in the offering.
Don't get me wrong I'm no fan of that way of running a football club, especially when it may well have come at the expense of a player like Holtby who seems a genuinely great guy, hard worker and excellent pro. Deserves better than to be seen as an investment rather than a person, but I can totally see Levy only having eyes for the ££££s
Thanks mate. Has there been any other rumours of anyone coming in? I heard something about nastasic earlier. Any more on that?
