Was Cerci ever a serious target in the first place ? I do laugh sometimes at these "Arsenal miss out on x transfer target" headlines in the media.
I'm going to sleep to dream about us wrapping up the signings of falcao, carvalho and popadopwhateverhisnameis. And hopefully by the time I wake up they'll all be complete! Looking forward to hitting refresh all day long in desperate hope that we pull something off...
The point is, if these players weren't targets, then why not? Remy is better than Sanogo, why weren't Arsenal in for Costa? Or Balotelli? Forwards & CBs have moved this summer, there are no excuses for not bringing players in. The money is there, the ability is sadly lacking. Any players that come in now won't be firing til October. Wenger won the FA Cup last season, and just 3 games into this one patience is wearing thin & the fans are chanting at him again.
Sure there were strikers available at the start, but Chelsea were willing to just outbid us for Costa, so I don't think that was ever an option. Balotelli was turned down due to attitude problems. Rightly or wrongly we'll find out during the season. After that Remy is the only realistic target we could have gotten. The names and prices linked with us now though are ridiculous. Falcao 55m? Cavani 50m? Can anyone really see Wenger buying 2 big names in one window? Especially with his talk of not changing to much too quickly. I can see us buying Carvalho and a CB. After that I think Wenger will say we're done.
That in itself is a hopeful belief. I reckon we will get a one player a CB (who can prob also play DM). But that being said why is it happening on deadline day? I felt we needed a Cb before TV was sold and on top of that he was sold 2 weeks ago. How have we not reinforced. It isn't only that we are not signing players it is that we are leaving it last minute. I had so much hope this season as he replaced players who were leaving so quickly but we needed 2-3 players more yet we have dallied about for a month. Its frustrating, how has it come to the stage where we are on deadline day and still looking for more than one player. Chelsea, City and Liverpool have done there business much earlier, whether that works out is another issue, they got the players they wanted at a good time why can't we do that??? Its so annoying
No excuses really for not investing in a CB or DM yet. If Giroud wasn't injured though I could see how a Striker was a luxury at that point... We were way thinner in cover defensively.
That applies if we are competing for the same player. Say if we bid for Costa and he picked Chelsea (for trophies and wages) or any other player that I get it is just the reality of the way the 2 clubs are run (same for City as well). I get we can't compete for certain players when certain other clubs are interested. But for example you sold TV to barca knowing full well that Mert won't be back till after the season started and Kos might be carrying a slight ankle knock. It is negligent - why are you selling TV if you don't have a replacement lined up, if you do have a replacement lined up why haven't you bought him before deadline day. Its not necessarily the level of player we are competing for that i have issue with (i know the like of Falcao and Cavani are prob out of our reach) its that how have we not identified players and bought them in already, why are we limping to deadline day with everyone agreeing that we need 2-3 players (again). Also in terms of wages Liverpool prob only have Gerrard and Balotelli over 100k a week. We have 4 who are on 100k+. Not to mention that UTD have more money than god available in this transfer window and are struggling to find players. I think it is a combo of club and finances that should determine the level of player we can get - identify players in that sphere and get them in. I refuse to believe there are not enough good players for the position we wont to fill - CB plenty, Dm plenty, st plenty (especially in comparison to Sanogo).
Plenty of people saying Falcao is in St Pancras. All aboard the bullshit train - choo choo Motherfuckers!!!
BBC Sport's Simon Stone: "A loan deal is agreed for Radamel Falcao to join Manchester United, subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed." So United get Falcao.....
Falcao to utd apparently (on loan for 12mn 8mn for wages) - think we should have paid that but oh well. How about a cheeky loan bid for RVP it doesn't appear that we are getting a striker so might as well try to take him on loan if he gets injured its not much of a write off, but a fit and firing RVP might do us wonders.
As an Arsenal fan I can sum up my emotions during the transfer window is shuffling feet.....WWWWOOOWWWW....ooohhh..........Nice......Interesting.........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We made a storming start in the transfer window but it soon turned into a giant turd. What on earth are these guys at Arsenal playing at? The bare minimum of a CB hasn't been signed. What do these guys get paid for if they can't get a bloody CB in, that we have to enter bloody transfer deadline day!!! I can understand getting a top striker is hard but a CB?
