Sure Madrilenos rate him. And selling him and Alonso in particular is a big mistake imo. Alonso Modric Di Maria is a much more balanced midfield three than Kroos Modric Rodriguez, even if the latter are better technically. Real should play Khedira Modric/Kroos Kroos/Rodriguez imo. Kroos is better in a midfield three than Di Maria, ironically United should have bought him. Di M is a good player but a £30m player, and Real have taken big advantage financially of United's weak position in the transfer market after Kroos, Fabregas, etc rejected Woodward.
Sometimes clubs overpay for players, sometimes they underpay, it depends on circumstances. Torres cost £50million and was only one of countless expensive players who failed to win the league with Chelsea. As it turns out Chelsea have only won a single league title in eight years despite unprecedented investment in the first team (stress "first team"). It's criminal really. Torres has since been released on a free transfer. They've called it a two year loan, which is funny in itself!
Funny for Chelsea fans to get shot of him. But Not funny for Milan . Chelsea used to overpay because other clubs took us for mugs. Now everyone is mugging off United. Sure it will be our turn again very soon! Mind the gap, btw
The lineups leave you with a pretty lightweight looking side. Too many attacking players. No athleticism or presence in the middle. Defence average to good but lacking leaders. Might bring you joy against some sides, as it does Arsenal, but can't imagine City or Chelsea worrying.
Deffo dont want mata in a midfield 3. Di maria is definitely a midfielder and him, herrera and blind bring some serious energy. Then falcao (wtf) scores.
Mata in the number 10 and put Di Maria on his left of a 4-2-3-1. Di Maria in CM with Mata on the front left of a 4-3-3 But Mata has to play.
I'd be happy with him being a flat track bully for most teams in the prem If he is not good enough on his own for the very top 2 or 3 we'll have to bring more quality players...
Yes. Happy to be in a position to be mugged! Clubs and their owners can sense desperation. And quality players >>> money in GGs pockets
I never thought I would say that. I think that if Real was to sell Ronaldo for £120m+, United could well go for him. I think the GGs have now realised that you have everything to gain by buying the very best in the world. Never mind the titles. The number of United Ronaldo shirts sold globally will soon overtake the transfer fee, and sponsorship deals will dwarf those too. Even a Ronaldo in decline would be a good thing for United both on and off the pitch...but will Real sell him ?
Ronaldo is not in decline, he probably had his best ever season last season with his 17 CL goals. The guy is super fit to, he lives a very clean lifestyle and spends a lot of his time training, and in the gym. I could see him still being at his best when he's 33-34. Even when he starts to lose his pace, you could play him upfront as a target man, as he's very good in the air, and he's very strong. I think he could easily play at the top until he's in his late 30s much like Giggs did
Happy with di Maria. I prefer him to Kroos to be honest. I don't think he would have taken to OT like ADM. Overpaying? Not an issue. He is worth 30m-40m but the key thing is that we've got him. All this business about overpayment is no big deal. We are well within FFP and if anyone got mugged it is the GGs ( no don't bother feeling sorry for them or the club. They'll get that overpayment back via sponsorship deals/tax offsets etc)
ADM has adapted much more quickly to the PL than Kroos has to La Liga. Real are a shambles at the moment and Ancelotti will be sacked before Christmas if they lose another two games. It's astonishing that any club would voluntarily sell a player as brilliant as ADM.
Sometimes people do underestimate the value of players if they are not in the limelight or sell billions of shirts. ADM apparently wanted to be second best paid player at Real. If you are the second most important player why not? No wonder Ronaldo , ancelotti were not happy about the transfer. Real sold him to replace him with James Rodriguez who is much better looking fellow than our angel and will sell more shirts. But is Rodriguez a better player and would he fit as well at OT ? I doubt it.
I think Real Madrid are having a Champions league hangover. They won the big prize, so what motivation do there players have for this season? Toni Kroos is not as good as ADM because he is far to slow. We have lacked a player with pace and skill for a while, so ADM was the perfect player for us , even if we had to pay over the odds for him. I think we seen today with the 2nd goal, how effective a player who has the pace and skill to run past people with the ball can be. It just creates openings for everyone else. Toni Kroos whilst being very skilful, wouldn't have been able to provide that pace to our play. I think RM will live to regret selling him, though I genuinely think they needed to sell, to bring in funds for other players. It probably wasn't a wise decision as the other new signings aren't as good as him. It was the president that sanctioned the sale though, I don't think Ancelotti wanted to sell him
