Bale was heavily criticised for diving by Spurs fans, but he was also repeatedly punished for it, including a number of incorrect occasions. He was also slated by the media constantly. Other players and clubs are rewarded on the pitch and praised by the press. The fans of their teams back them to the hilt and make all manner of dubious excuses, too.
The ugly face of bias in the 'Pool/United-loving media shows itself no more starkly than when it comes to analyzing dodgy reffing decisions.
Spurs are so superior that the supporters were criticising Bale on 606s everywhere for the increasing occurrences of it, long before the press or refs turned it into a witch-hunt.
I know it was a dive. So do you. No. This didn't happen, though. Not by one of our players, anyway. Lovren did it to Adebayor, of course. You're probably not referring to that incident though, are you?
. Dier barely touched Allen's arm, it was pretty much a bloody high-five yet Allen pretended to be pulled and fell like he'd been shot. Pathetic.
Why are you lads still trying argue and reason with these Mousers? Have you forgotten how LFC forced King Kenny and the squad to wear those stupid tee-shirts in unified support of Goofy after he racially abused Evra and the rest of society was vilifying him? You'll get no where with these people.
So Dier didn't at any point grab Allen? If you think it was a dive, you either don't understand what a 'dive' actually is or you're being deliberately stupid.
Is this some definition of grab that I'm unfamiliar with, where lightly brushing against someone is assault and biting is a show of affection? He grabbed him? Really?
What is your opinion on the Lovren/Ade incident? Given that you seem to think the Allen incident justified a penalty, I'm curious to know if you think the same should have been given the other way when the 'foul' was so much worse.
Anyway for a new young coach in such a high profile position to say we'll pip a higher profile club with higher profile players is bloody stupid and now for me he has lost a lot of credibility and will take a while to regain it. If he's going to say "We will win" and then we get thrashed 0-3 what does it say for his inner knowledge of football or his prediction abilities? Nothing that's what.
Not really no...but that don't change the fact that our only striker was isolated cos the midfielders didn't support him and that made us very easy to defend against
Definite penalty, and Lovren was using a form of 'cheating' by trying to impede Adebayor's progress. Same as Dier did with Allen impeding his run. Its just unfortunate for Spurs that all premier league referees are terrible. It doesn't exactly even itself out, like commentators claim, but every club is subjected to terrible refereeing decisions and inconsistencies because of the poor standard of refereeing.
Away from the dive discussion... I thought Dembele was good when he came on - we actually looked to drive forward through their MF far more than when Bentaleb was on. I would start Capoue with Dembele next game I think - you would get a good balance of defence and attack with those two. Also - although Eriksen had an off day (dire set pieces as well), he was still far and away more influential than Townsend.
Townsend was very influential, Moorpheus. Their third goal was directly due to his influence! Simply can't play well on the right for us, it seems.
