I have a good friend who has lived in Italy for the best part of 7 years, massive football fanatic.

Spoke to him last night and asked for his honest opinion on Hernandez. The feedback he gave me was that he's lightning quick but is a very frustrating player and doesn't take his chances. He did say, however, Hernandez is a very good penalty taker..

I think we would need 2 strikers and a creative midfielder before deadline day. If Hernandez gamble doesn't come off we're ****ed because we cannot rely on Jelly giving 150% every game the poor bastard, he'll burn himself out.

we have brady and Aluko to interchange in the strikers position, just till we get Hernandez signed.

    IN SB WE TRUST!

In terms of up front, yes. We're lacking fire power, a goal scorer. We have jelly playing his heart out and he cannot keep to this level week in week out.

I'm just saying, if we don't get a striker that is known for putting the ball in the back of the net we will struggle for goals (again) this year.

    Delusional.

I wish you and others would stop saying that we don't need players in because we already have cover. Because the cover aren't good enough and it isn't their natural position.

We have lost Long, Prochwitz, Fryatt and Snodgrass. Plus we have already proven so far this season that we look toothless up front.

We need 2 strikers and an attacking midfielder.

Sagbo is good at holding the ball up, he is powerful. Not a finisher

Fryatt did well when we played him, scoring a couple of goals.

Long.. I have never rated him but we did see a partnership between him and Jelly... However, 12 million for Long was a great bit of business, only if we get someone better than him! This is what I'm worried about.

perhaps if you READ what I said, I stated that we have cover UNTIL we get Hernandez signed, but I guess it is easier to read what you want into things, it must be easier for you just to make things up in your head.

We haven't really lost him, he was never really here in the first place. You could include Fryatt in that to an extent.

We've played 3 games, one in which we won AWAY from home, one which we were down to 10 men (and still got a point from our STRIKER scoring) and one against a team we never beat, let alone away from home.

See, this is the kind of bollocks I was talking about.

    You're talking s**t.

Look at the players we are in for and it disproves what you are saying.

We are playing unattractive ooff long ball to a loan striker.

We're always winning by the odd goal, it's never 2 or 3, always one.

I know you could say at least we're winning but the problem is, most teams are good enough to put a few past us and despite our late rally today I don't think we was ever going to pull it back from 2-0 down. We need a threat up front and until that happens we will always be a team looking to avoid relegation each season ( in the prem ).

Hernandez alone is not enough, there's an element of risk with him and we still need another out and out striker, if we haven't got one by tomorrow night I'll be disappointed.

No hint from Bruce that we are in for a striker on top of Longs replacement.

We did today, but Brucey won't have told his players to go route one, it was just something that happened as a result of Villa pressing us so high up the park. We are in for two midfielders and a striker, which says to me that our problem isn't with the strikers, it's the service they are getting. Just having two strikers on the park doesn't mean they're automatically going to stick it in the net, they have to actually get the ball first. How they get the ball is determined by the type of player giving it to them.

If that player is a defender, as we saw today with Dawson, it'll be a long ball from deep. If it's from an AM or a winger, it'll be from a cross or a through ball. How many times did Jelavic pick up a ball from our midfield and have a shot on goal? We just aren't creative enough. You could play 3 top strikers but if they aren't getting the ball, what's the point?

We played terribly today, terribly against Lokren on Thursday, poorly against Lokren the week before, poorly against QPR and poorly against Trencin both times.

Because we lack quality strikers up front and a creative spark from midfield.

2 strikers and 1 attacking midfielder.

    Essential.

    He is right.

Every PL team should always have 2 main/quality strikers to start with quality on the bench for impact. We only have one decent striker and that is jelly, despite his EXCEPTIONAL effort, commitment and desire to win (scoring a couple of goals).. We still need another 2 quality strikers.

ESSENTIAL is the keyword from the quoted poster and I agree...
