The Spiders from Mars are better, and they're actually from Hull. Paul Heaton's a Blunts fan from Merseyside, and he's also a bit of a ****.
Mick and Trevor were from Hull, and Woody was from Driffield. The Spiders from Mars were better and more influential than the Housemartins, in my opinion. I just think they're more synonymous with the city of Hull.
This isn't about which band is better or which one is more synonymous. Musically, I prefer the Spiders to The Housemartins, but that aint the point. The Spiders were from a different era. Not only would the Housemartins be more relevant in terms of how many people are familiar with them, but they also had a football mentality about them; how the **** could you overlook a band who had an album called Hull 4 London 0?
It needs to be played before the teams come out - or preferably instead of the inane "good evening ***** stand" that we have to suffer every home game
If its going to be used instead of "Wise men say.." which I was under the impression it was, then IMO that is the best time for it to be played so we get more than just a couple of lines of the song. Might as well not bother if all we are going to use is the couple of lines we are currently getting.
