It's very, very soft but yes. Not sure if it's a good thing because Allen definitely could have gone on and crossed. From Allen's view though he has to weigh the probability of getting the cross right and that cross being converted OR take the foul and win a penalty... which gives what a 90%+ chance of scoring?
Apparently, Gerrard has set a new club record for penalties converted, at 'Pool. I wonder how many of the 43 pens scored were earned from dives? My guess is that that would also be a record, but not just for 'Pool, across the entire footballing world.
It's a dive. There was virtually no contact and certainly not enough to warrant throwing himself to the ground. How successful a dive it was is irrelevant.
Would it be a foul anywhere else on the pitch? If that is the only pressure you need to fall over, just before a corner comes in just about everyone would be on the floor. There needs to be consistency here. There is no different class of fouls specially for attackers in the penalty area. Yet a completely different system of assessing fouls is applied for example when there is a corner.

Mmm how are we defining 'dive'? Allen accepts the contact... a 'dive' means simulating contact surely? Allen exaggerates sure. But he is (just about) fouled. Anyway - what a goal from Moreno. Excellent little player.
It's this aspect of the game that I absolutely abhor. When you look at the way certain players diver - Gerrard, Allen, Goofy, Terry, Drogba - it's absolutely clear that they have been coached in how to do that. We must stamp this out of the game. Allen should have that goal chalked off and he should be awarded a very long retrospective ban.
Jeez, I thought Eriksen had a poor game and needed to be subbed. Townsend however may have just sealed his probable transfer after that inept display of ball skills. He can't do anything the simple way can he? Utterly stupid.

Absolutely pointless changing the midfield if the players going on do exactly the same things as those they replaced.
