Great showing by the lads yesterday, can we play West Brom every week! We go into the internationals break at the top of the pile, something to savor for two weeks, then a huge match with fellow table toppers Chelsea, what a game that should be. Chelsea looked world beaters in their demolition of Everton yesterday,or were Everton that poor. I see Muhamed Besic had a nightmare of a game for Everton, yes that same defensive midfielder that Martinez stole from under our noses after the World Cup..

Whilst I feel for the young lad Besic....I am glad we missed the boat on him..!

PS whilst there was some outstanding performances yesterday (Dyer, Routes etc), I think there is always one player who always does the business with no fuss and is one of our most consitent and underated performers...Stand up mr Angel Rangel...you are my nomination for 'give that man a bacon buttie' award. Did not put a foot wrong as far as I could see, outstanding <applause> . (not that the other 3 of our back 4 did too bad either mind...good to see Taylor backing up Ash on a couple of occassions as oppossed to the other way round....Taylor will be fine, I just think in the first game Januzaj was on fire and a class player who would cause problems for anyone on his day).

Ki was MOM for me again yesterday. Drives the team forward, high energy and pressed all game, and put some meaty tackles in too, could be our answer to the DM we need if he carries on like this. He's been like a new £10 million signing since his return.

It's amazing the transformation in Ki. He could not/would not tackle before, now he's like a terrier after the ball. Together with his range of passing and his shooting prowess,he's now some player.

I think Ki has had some words from Mr Monk on his defensive game. Fantastic yesterday - glad to see some converts here! <whistle>

I'm nitpicking but I disagree with you Nottage on Rangel. Generally he played very well indeed so no argument there and he's always been one of my favourites but he was guilty of switching off second half at times - uncharacteristically giving the ball away on a few occasions which almost gave them a chance at goal.

I think Monk has worked with the team on maintaining concentration levels during the second half, and rightly so. But Rangel is still doing it and needs to work on this aspect of his game imo.

Dyer cant cross but he can run and score if he can keep it up he may be the player of the season, but Gylfi is the new cog back in the machine we needed hes my motm .

I get that 'tastic. Siggy was fab. Re Dyer - a few seasons ago he was dreadful at finishing but boy has he worked at that. If he could cross the ball better he'd be the perfect winger.

It was a huge bonus to see Ki putting himself about yesterday. We all know he's a good footballer, so to see him develop his physicality is excellent news. He may be a bit battered this morning, but I thought he put a great shift in yesterday - let's hope it continues.

Also agree about Dyer and the crossing aspect of his game...Surely he has time to practice this over and over again until he improves.....He would be an all round complete player then.

It's called "the magic roundabout" and it's not for the faint hearted! I think there were six minis at the last count. Quite an experience when navigated as a passenger with an elderly relative driving

Glad you had a good time. Hope the Mrs turned the TV on for you when she brought your breakfast in

As for the game... are Monk and his team actually tactically better than we thought? It could be it's just taking time to get the players up to speed with the "master plan" and we're seeing glimpses of it coming together now. I do hope so. I really would like to see us give a good account of ourselves against Chelsea. Defensively we have to be 100%. That's key as we can always play a good breakaway game, we've got the pace.

I only watched the game online but I thought there was more movement to take passes and keep possession and better concentration overall. Early days obviously but exciting times!

According to the BBC, it's our best start to a season for 91 years.

Not an issue. He just has new ones every 10 years or so, and new hips every 20. he'll go on forever, but unsure how much of original leon will be left after a while. <laugh>

If samuel eto can still be playing at 50 (source: mourhino I think !) then no problem for leon ......

Dyer's crossing is no worse worse than most wingers but rarely have players in the box in any number to make the most of the pass. Several crosses yesterday were spot on but no one took advantage.
