however one player who now seems certain to stay with the Saints is Morgan Schneiderlin. Schneiderlin took the starring role as Southampton beat West Ham 3-1 at Upton Park on Sunday, with the French international bagging a brace in the away win. After the game manager Ronald Koeman discussed Schneiderlin, and rumours that the midfielder may be going to Tottenham. Koeman brushed off the Spurs interest saying: It’s difficult in life to say 100 per cent [if he will stay]. For me, yes, but more like 99 per cent. He never said he would go on strike. He’s in a comfortable situation now. He’s accepted club’s decision [not to sell him].
I think Koeman means in the future, he obviously can't say he will stay for sure. This window yes, but hopefully Koeman can keep working his magic on him over the next year or so.
£9mil bid for Redmond from you guys supposedly, for that fee you will be bitterly disappointed to begin with. Still not upto prem standard, has a lot of potential but his end product is average at best. Most clubs who have a promising youngster would flip a lid at losing them but with Josh Murphy at the club is arguably better I'm along with most others won't be to down with the move especially with the fee being quoted. If there is one club he could improve at in the prem would be you guys so if the move does go through, good luck to him and you and hopefully we will lock horns again next season in the top flight
Yeah, the fees for McCormack, Long etc show that British players proven in their respective divisions will cost a lot.
Can't see it happening. Purely on the basis that we never sign anyone on deadline day apart from reject centre backs from the SPL. We all get excited while rumours fly about and we watch every other club lap it up with their little bits of shrewd business and their trophy signings just waiting for our deadline day moment in the sun. Yet, as always we have Sibley announcing business is done on his tw*ter page and absolutely nothing to show in comparison to any other club. All we get is a departing Zambian to a mid-table French team. Expect nothing more this time around. Rant over.
I hope deadline day will be as quiet as the grave as far as we are concerned. What's that banging noise? Koeman: I can't hear anything. It's coming from the broom cupboard. Koeman: It's the pipes. Anyone seen Morgan today?
Then don't buy british! It's not even like he's a proven British player. In all honesty I think people dislike the price because it implies that we're spending money that could be used on another player. If we sign two wingers and one of them is Redmond for 9 million I won't care, but if it's only Redmond for 9 million it'll represent bad business for me. The only saving grace is he COULD blossom into a great player under Koeman.
I'd quite like Redmond in all honesty. I don't really care about fees anymore as any club is going to rip us off. Also, no Van Dijk in Celtic's squad today...
