Okay. The club have shown some bottle in going for young Connor Wickham. Lets be equally bold and just pull the rug on the N'Zog deal (if there is one) and say Liverpool and the NE1 brigade can fight it out for him. How about testing both Villa and Man City with a huge bid for either Downing or Johnson. Somewhere in the region of 15m respectively for each player? Might make N'Zog sit up and make a decision, or it may just do the job and one of the 2 might come anyway? Double your money for Johnson and a profit for Downing for Villa who need funds to rebuild old Hecs house. One way or the other, it will shake this stalemate over the Zog that seems to be hanging about.
We've shown we can compete with the big boys in terms of persuading players to join us. If the funds are they... I agree.
Im just seriously worried we will still have a crack at N'Gog. Dong and Wickham are great buys, but have a fair amount of risk about them. N'Gog comes with the same, maybe even greater risk, at an unjustifiable price most likely, and would signal the end for our striker hunt this season.
Got to admit this is going on too long im not sure if we have bid for him Wigan must get the money quickly if they want to buy players we have already bough half of what we need. If its true he wants to go to the scum let him go but i thought the way they treated him up there why would he go back. If Bruce wants him get a bid in and make a take it or leave it offer before Liverpool and the scum can react if he does not want to come he can **** off. I think Liverpool prefer Downing anyway
I'd pull the heed off it if we got Johnson. Welbeck on loan, i get a feeling is gonna happen, we still need one more steady and experienced striker. One full back, either side, but we need a left footer in the side, it's essential for balance.
They do prefer Downing but if N'Zogbia is hanging on hoping KK makes a bid, we should maybe puch the deal bu making alternative offers anyway
But the board will be empty with no "he who shall not be named" threads.. Downing or Johnson...Either or, but isn't Johnson r/w, or is it just thats where he preffers.
Got to be honest, I'm finding it difficult to keep up with this raw ambition! Great signing of a potential fantastic striker - plus support, along witha totally re-vamped midfield. More to come (cavalry for the defence). I've known nothing like it in my time - it draws parrallels with the "Bank of England" Sunderland of the 1950's!!!!!!! Great, but also scary to me!!!!!!!! x
I'm tending to feel this way as well...He seems to be very money oriented, a little petulant and has a huge ego. With this in mind he could turn out to be a disruptive influence on team spirit.
Not a big fan of Downing, very inconsistent IMHO. As for Zog hasn't the stumbling block always been how much was asked for him?
Phoned up yesterday on one of those auto phone sites for tickets to see a tribute to Elvis I rang and it said Press 1 for the money 2 for the show I thought it was funny lol No i did;nt like the good looking greasy bastrd lol
Hey Mackems, If you want a left sided player you should really take a look at Matty Jarvis. Was a hero at Gillingham and has been the best player in a Wolves shirt all season! (plus you could probably get him to come back up to the north east as he was born in the land of the smog monster!)
Matty why would that signal the end of our Striker hunt? I believe we'd still be in the market for a big signing - Wickham - whilst not proven in the PL, is a marquee signing when you look at the clubs which were looking at him - just glad we got it tied up quickly... This is one of the best windows I've seen for quite some time and I'm lookijng forward to the rest of it - just hope he's got some defenders up his sleeve!!
If we blew £15 million on Johnson then I think that would be it for spending, which would mean Bardo at left back again and a CB, LB & CF on loans, which is not what we want.
Not being funny Cest but the way the club is being run at the moment (the right) N'Zog can do one for all I care. His attitude clearly showed what he was all about last season with his move to Birmingham that didn't happen because he wanted 60k a week. We all know we have a wage cap and it means the future of our club is in safe hands. Don't get me wrong I think he's a canny player but he also thinks he's bigger than any club he's been at. Maybe he needs a good hard slap to sort himself out...
