We have a bad track record against Crewe, and looking at this forum there are some already calling for the gaffers Head.We have not started too well, we have always been a side who under play , I would like to see this side prove they have what it takes and start to prove that sooner than later.
I can already see the knockers for the Gaffer and with Hez in the wings to many mistakes could see an abrupt change.
Taylor has a touch of class, and we should be honoured an X England manager is now at the helm (Again) not that he was over brilliant last time, we as a side must start firing on all cylinders it is a long season, 4 points from 4 games, already 6 points behind But having scored 7 goals we should be up the top some where but we have conceded 10 and that is not good.
This could be a 3 pointer and should be, we are at home and should have a better support so a massive plus.
For me a big chance, I would hope to see us above mid table this season, with the view of our youngsters gaining strength and experience, and being able to keep them for the following season.
Keep it Blue stay faithful UTG

In my eyes i think there is a lot of pressure on Peter Taylor this afternoon to take all three points in this game. We currently have four points from four games and if i do a comparison i believe it took MA eight games to get three points at this level. However, it's still not good enough in my eyes and a win today may just appease my opinion. Failure to get the early points on the table will make the job harder as we get further into the season, so let us get ourselves some early footing on the rungs of the ladder.

As for the team, my choices as always, Davies, Hessy and Dack to start. I like Egan, so him on the starting team sheet as well...but if there is really one player i would like to see again it has to be Norris. Come on PT and Hess get this lad on and lets have another look at him....oh and please can we go a game without conceding an own goal!

Glad we won 2-0 but rather frustrated that Davies was dropped and Hause kept his place when Davis was arguably our best defender against a better attacking side in Newcastle on Wednesday.

It isn't often that you come away from a 2-0 win disappointed but I think the second half was a let down, Crewe were there for the taking and we should have at least two more, I hope we don't rue this result if it comes down to goal difference

Good three points but we really should have torn Crewe apart, i expect only 1-0 and 2-0 wins with PT's tactics...but Crewe seriously? It was quite simply one of those games that if we had lost, you might as well have pulled down the shutters and packed your bags for L2 next season. I feel sorry for Crewe but not enough to care about their way forward.

not really sure if it is negative or not. I don't feel negative, just more of an observation. Although agree 2-0 and three points is plenty to be happy about. I think the concern is the next game and the game after that...having already been battered twice this season in only the first five games, has an alarm bell about it, and Crewe are clearly by far the worst in the league and the worst i have seen for sometime. I just got this horrible feeling that another 4-0, 5-0 battering is around the corner for us and we may not have the ability to reply. Now i could really kick off my critics here by mentioning Cody...yes he scored...but i'm still not convinced, but i guess you can't please all the people all the time and i'm prepared to accept i may well be wrong...only time will tell.

The teams that have beat us will prob finish in top 5.Present form we will finish mid table. As for cody i reckon he will score 3 times as many goals as German and Dickinson put together.Sounds good to me.

48 goals in 100 games in a Gills shirt and you aren't convinced?

depends on how u measure the stats...surely like MA was judged last season we work on stats of the last 5 games. He won a L2 trophy but in the eyes of the powers that be, it made him no better a manager, so i don't get this player thing.

Keds is clearly the consistent scorer in the side and all round performer, you only have to look at supporters views applied in the Star Player League...top and clear by miles.

Whereas Cody the supporters are not marking up his performances, yes, he's getting the goals but is that anymore than anyone else placed in the forward role. Maybe but how does his overall contribution affect the team, we nearly got relegated last season, i've nothing against Cody what so ever but its like anyone you question the overall contribution. It's a bit like placing Wayne Rooney in the England team that has won nothing for near on 50 years. Dare you drop him, no because we get frightened of being lynch by majority opinion.

Oh well been open about my thoughts...best i now shut up lol

good 3 points today with Taylor going back to 4-4-2 with Hause lucky to keep his place as Davies played a lot better than him on Tuesday night but Hause was brilliant today and proved a few people wrong including me. morris looked really good today which let mcglasion and dack to get forward. mcglasion looked really quick and lets hope he is more consistent than Weston.
we have 7 points from 5 games which i would have expected as the matches we have played.

A good win and a very good performance, I really enjoyed the first half as we played with attacking intent from the start and we passed the ball really well. The 4-4-2 formation suited us and we looked a lot better for it. All the players played well and it is so good to see young players like Dack and Hess junior playing so well and running the show. Egan was very impressive and a top PT signing and of course Mcglashen was excellent and gave us the pace we so badly needed. Well done boys, cmon U Gills!

A really good win regardless of the opposition, how many times have we failed to win against poor teams. I can fault none of the players today (unlike the poor fan turn out) for their work rate and desire, lets hope we can string a few wins together and raise confidence levels in what is a young team and will continue to move forwards but still have backward steps.

I agree, Cody's form has not been good so far this season. His goal had a huge slice of luck, he should have slotted it away first time and his also had three or more good chances which he failed to trouble the keeper with. On one hand it is good that he is getting into the spaces but he should be putting more away; so it is a tricky one. He certainly isn't as prolific as he was in L2, perhaps this is a step too far for him, although he is coming back from injury so you can't be too critical at this early stage.

As for the negativity comment, it isn't the result or performance but the tactics, Crewe we poor and we should have pushed home our obvious advantage more but true to form Taylor wanted us to sit back in the second half which I find annoying.

Thanks BSG...i think sometimes people see my comments as negative but they are not intended that way. I just say what i see not to appease or please. I look at a team as a complete unit and i really feel Cody is lost without Bayo. Tactics are built around Bayo and he feeds Cody...many will disagree.

Anyway moving on i would like to comment on McGlashan, he actually reminds me of Weston but i'm hoping he;s more the better article, i was quite excited to see him play but despite that excitement there was a final edge missing, hopefully after seeing him in a few more games my opinion will be better focused/informed.

Its a bit harsh to say Codys from has not been good, he scored 1 and won the penalty in our first match (and was then carried off), he then has had substitute appearance V Barnsley, started v Newcastle and gave them more problems than Kedwell and started yesterday and scored again so in the league has scored 2 in less than 2.5 matches I would settle for that over the course of the season. As for Kedwell he has certainly started the season well but I am sure that his popularity is also to do with his obvious affinity to the club, how many actual supporters actually end up in the shirt! Personally I still expect Cody to score more but I will delighted if Danny proves me wrong. But I will still never sing super Bobs song for him!

It isn't that Cody has been bad per say it is that I don't think he has been as good as he should have been, as I said he did score yesterday albeit lucky, but he missed more chances I would expect him to score. It is ok if he gets 5 chances per game and scores 1 but against better teams when he may get only one chance it could become an issue.

As for McGlashen he is far better than Weston, he takes players on and his crosses are good but neither Cody or Keds want to make runs into the 6yard box, maybe it is a tactical issue or maybe players need to get gel more

I like Cody, as I've said on many occasions so I'm not going to get involved in a debate on that again apart from saying he is a quality player who we miss when he's not there.

Was great to see us outclass a team so much, but I honestly can't remember a worst team for along long time, if they stay up it will be a miracle.

Apart from the obvious mcglashan, Hess, Cody and Keds having good attacking games, it's great to see Bradley playing consistently well in 2 games, he's a major threat and great if he carries on like this, Aaron Morris is also at present looking like a great piece of business, and don't get me started on Egan, 21 years old you must be joking, he is different level.
