Great win and I'm full of that unmistakeable Saturday night buzz, but I had to smile a bit when Koeman came out with his "I hate the long ball approach" gag on the interview, after a long and successful career at Barça spraying 60 yard passes upfield in the hope of reaching whichever CF was playing that day. Still, I'll buy into his "philosophy" after performances like today.
Sometimes being awake at 3.30 in the morning is a pain in the ass. Sometimes you get to see the Saints deliver a brilliant performance against a pain in the ass team! Wicked game, loved watching the team play fluidly together and I think only going to get better! Pelle was a rock I thought, honestly he's going to give the opposition such a hard time if this is how he's starting out. He was mobile, had a good touch today, won headers and hit the target again and again. Also loved his reaction after scoring, felt like 2minutes while he checked every official and replay camera before cracking a smile. Personality too. TBF the first half was a pretty dismal affair, one chance on target for all the possession was pretty depressing. 2nd half made all that disappear. West Ham were absolutely shameful in their team spirit. Alex Song must've been shrinking into his designer suit and baseball cap, Barca to this.. yeesh. RonKo need to sort out their setpiece takers tho, Tadic struck the freekick well ..into the wall but does age come before time served on the squad?
No wonder Koeman put his foot down on any possibility leaving for the moment!! Is he the type of player to build a team around? I suspect yes!! With Lallana, Lambert et al gone, he has an excellent opportunity to shine this season and if he bags 10/15 goals this season from his midfield role, then I suspect his value will rocket towards 60m and Real or Barca beckons next season for him!!
Just finished watching on Sky...we were very good in the 2nd half. Lovely strike from Pelle...shame about the disallowed goal (should have stood according to Sky). Schneiderlin is always good, but this season could be a revelation from him. Tadic looks good, as do Bertrand and Forster. The players from last season carrying on as usual...nice ball from JWP caught WHU napping for Spider's 2nd. Love Sammy Lee's reactions to the goals...lives every minute.
I read on here all the time but don't post a lot but I feel compelled to welcome you back DTLW. I'm currently in Spain and have missed your video links to goals and interviews whilst I'm away. #sanmigueltalking
Sort of admire Schneiderlin's honesty in his interview. No bullshit platitudes. Still sounds like he wants out. "Is your future with Southampton?" "Yes, for now."
Just seems a bit disrespectful to me. Now I don't particularly care on this occasion as it was Fat Sam but he did wait around and then went down the tunnel before Koeman even turned to him.
Morgan just shrugs when asked about his future being at Southampton, but says he has a contract to honour and will do his best. Doesn't warm the cockles of your heart, but I guess we all know that his long term future isn't here.
We went to their facking gaff, took some liberties, burst all their facking bubbles, went facking mental, fack me.
Hate the way pundits talk about us. Saying they feel sorry for Schneiderlin because other players have gone. This is the stupid, arrogant attitude of ex players who are in no way in touch with the supporters.
