I would be disappointed if they followed that dick Salmond and the tax dodger Sean Connery.

But if they did pull out I would be insisting on every UK firm brought there businesses and jobs back to the UK.
They can have Morrisons back as well. :)

You would need a smarter man than me to explain it marra.

They seem to think self governance will make things better for them.
But oddly want to keep the pound and the security it brings.

It could work in the same way as the Isle of Man works, i.e. they govern their own internal affairs but the UK handles foreign affairs, defence, etc. But from what little I know about Salmond, he even wants to separate on those items as well. We're only a tiny island, so if Scotland went to war with someone how would he feel about an enemy submarine parked at Berwick? Missiles 57 miles from Edinburgh - It's nonsense, isn't it?

I've liked some Scots, and disliked some, but one thing I'm sure they're not - they're not this stupid.

Salmond is so pleased to have digs about removing the NUKES, yet conveniently avoids how much they have earned the local economy not just surrounding the subs but transport and manufacturing.

Plus the anti-nuke people get on my tits, if we hadn't had them the Russians would have walked over all of Europe.

    Just a quick few question..

How would they supply there oil worldwide?

    What a bout shipping lanes?

What about all the nuclear weapons stored there?

How would they export their haggis and whiskey?

Would it be mandatory for all males to wear skirts?

In my opinion, it would be madness to split our already small island nation up into separate nation states, so I hope it's a massive no vote and that Salmond disappears back under the rock from which he emerged.

I know little about the whole benefits for and against independence! But if I was a Scot my thinking would be along the lines of 'better the devil you know!' Even if I was the most jingoistic Scot with a deep hatred for England I would be worried about the negative repercussions of such a move, even though i wouldnt have a f**ing clue what those repercussions would be! As an Englishman though I dont like the idea that even though Scotland becoming independent would have some sort of effect on me, maybe in at least some small way, i do not have a vote or a single say on the matter! I also dont like the idea that if they do gain their independence they will no doubt still reap the benefits of being close to the rest of the UK whenever it may suit them! Like demanding independence, 'oh but can we keep the pound please!' Or 'Oh we are being invaded by Norway, can you help us out please...lend us some of your tanks!' If they do gain their independence then I cant help being childish by thinking that we should cut them loose in every way possible, even if that means cutting our noses off to spite our faces!!! For me its either full independence, or not at all!

    I like scotch eggs?

I have just thought if our greedy government isn't putting the tax on whisky will I be nipping up the road to buy cases of fine malt?

Doubt it though, as it is one of the few things they will still get high taxes off.

I gotta be honest, as an Englishman, I'm genuinely concerned they may go for independence.

They've got the best links courses in the world! <yikes>
