Fonte got the captaincy because he is a leader, but isn't he growing with the role as well. He has risen since being given the armband...more of a natural leader than Lallana.

Morgan here for everyone to dissect and analyse.....
For those who can't be bothered to watch it, he apologises to the fans and says he will prove on the pitch that he is committed to Southampton. Good enough for me.
I guess we can finally breathe out now. Schneiderlin is safe enough to be allowed in front of the cameras on his own. Well done Morgan.
Ummm.....yeah.....sort of. He says sorry to the fans, but pointedly not so much to the club. But yes, then says he needs to show the fans his commitment on the pitch. So he won't be going anywhere this season anyhow.
Was nervous about listening to that...thought I would hear something I didn't want to hear...but Morgan said the rights things. He apologised if it appeared he was disrespecting the fans and that plenty of worse things happen to people round the world compared to being a footballer on a contract. That's what we all felt at the time.
Yeah, he definitely made it clear he was apologising to the fans, and never meant to disrespect the fans. The fans.
He's far more of a man than a certain patchy-bearded, money grabbing, hopefully overrated ex-captain mind you...
Even though I imagine it's only for another season, It's really nice to hear Morgan say he's committed to Saints.
Yeah it will be for another season. But hopefully at the end of this season we can look back on a great year, look forward to being in the premier league again, and say thank you to Morgan for manning up, keeping your head down and giving us 38 games of committed football. If he does that, he'll get my well wishes next year.
Agreed. If he starts adding 8/9 goals a season to his game then it will have been worth turning Spurs down this summer as he'll have some sensational clubs after him.
And he's been called up again, so playing for Saints doesn't mean France won't consider him. Phew....imagine if that hadn't happened #gallicmeltdown
If he honors his contract by giving his all on the pitch and producing good performances, I don't care about anything else. If he scores two goals a game, he can spit on his badge and run to the owner's box and give KL the finger after every one of them.
