I think Wickham should stick with us for a season or wait for one of the top teams to make there move. If he fails to make an impact at Sunderland he will struggle to get a move to another premiership team but if he struggles at say Liverpool he can then move to a team like Sunderland thus giving him more time.
A little bit offensive, My tune is that anything over ten million dollars is to good to turn down for us but for the player i don't think its the best move.
Its a better move to us, than to stay put in a dead-end championship club with absolutely no chance of being a premier league club anytime before the lads 30th birthday? You get 9m up front which isnt chicken feed in that league. You have a good manager now to spend it and maybe by doing so, you can stop being a bottom half club and go for the play offs. Wish the lad well as we have to Henderson. Both deals have opened new doors for all parties. Thats football.
I'm sure you're right Cestria, he has far more chance of winning something with you than if he'd gone to Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs!
Judging on your poor run of results during the second half of last season you should be more worried about keeping your premiership status next year then speculating on where we will be!
No but he will be playing in the big boys league which he wouldnt be until his 30th birthday with your lot.
Will that be our top 10 place finish youre refering to? Where did you finish the season? Dream on tractor boy and watch out for that relegation trap door?
You were dropping like a stone after Bent left you for a bigger club! A couple of wins and you scraped into a false position! Well done
You sir are a stroker of the highest order. I made no disparaging remarks about your club. May you spend the rest of your days tied to Whitburn Lighthouse wearing nothing but a bread waistcoat...
That was not because of Bent leaving. The slump was because of the amount of players that were injured, at some point we had 11-12 first team players out and not having strength in depth we found it hard going. The table doesnt lie we finished 10th regardless of your thoughts of how we got there. Good Luck next season and spend the cash well.
Remember Sunderland fans, Ipswich are the biggest club in the Championship all because of success 30 years ago, never mind the fact they haven't been in the Premier League for 9(nine) years.
Your not wrong about it being a false position. Most of the season we were way higher than 10th. Sadly it's the final table only that counts, after all 38 games are played (That's how many we play in the Premiership). We ended up only tenth. A position you could only dream of I think you'll agree. Young CW can only benefit from playing in front of large crowds in a fantastic stadium for a change, with the likes of Gyan to learn from. He looks very pleased in the photo's. On the plus side. You have Chopra.
