Sounds like Bertrand played well? I thought he'd do well, but didn't think he was that good against WBA.
Thought that when I was writing my comment! Seriously though, we all need to respect each other on all of the threads....that doesn't mean not having a strong opinion either way...it means respecting that others will have a strong opinion that is different to yours. Delighted with that result and looking forward to any new additions over the next few days. Results today and so far this season show how open and competitive the PL will be this season. COYR!
That is about as good a game as you are going to see from a holding midfield player at this level. 10/10 for Schneiderlin.
Yeah, 10m seems alright (actually seems ridiculous but thats the way the market has been) if he can keep up the work rate like tonight that seems a pretty good deal.
Biggest positive for me from today was Pelle. He was physical, attacked the ball, held it up well and showed some good vision and touches. His composure for the third goal was great as well. We really benefitted from the extra tempo in the second half - JWP Tadic and Pelle linked up so much more effectively than the last game. Absolute credit to Koeman, I was worried by that team selection not being physical enough, but they battled magnificently.
A great win for us today !! Looking forward to Sam,a after match comments. Just curious though, how did Ramirez do ??
And actually, if it was tactical, he was quite correct to leave Vic on the bench today - there was no need for his style of play today.
Why did that **** commentator say Allardyce hasn't lost to a Southampton team for 13 years? Does he only watch/read/research the Premier League? Try 3 years Hooiveld.......match winner. Southampton manager Nigel Adkins: "West Ham were in the Premier League last season, their aspiration is to go straight back up and they are favourites to do that. "We also have that aspiration and after 12 games of the season we are top of the league and are there on merit. "We kept a clean sheet, played some good football, created opportunities and scored a good goal from a set play so I am pleased with the three points. "We have got a lot of belief at the club and are trying to play good football." West Ham manager Sam Allardyce: "We knew Southampton would be dangerous coming forward and I wanted to nullify their attacking strengths. "The first half was very tight and we created some chances so were disappointed to concede right before half-time. "This is not an easy place to come and on another day we would have got something out of it."
If you look up you can see I acknowledged how well he played in the 2nd half. He did well but why don't we see what he does after a few games like everyone was suggesting to me? I want him to succeed, so I'm happy to admit it when he did well. Have you got any growing up to do?
Ramirez looked good when he came on - he didn't have time to really affect the game too much, but he was very tidy and kept the ball moving extremely well. Could be that spark that we desperately need.
I had a feeling when our goal was (wrongly) disallowed that we'd regret not taking all our chances. We just kept on creating and Koeman's substitutions were bang on today. Gaston gave us that little bit of spark in the final 3rd and it was him that won us the corner for our second. Then to bring Cork on at 1-2 to just tidy up the midfield a little. JWP had been good but slightly lightweight, Cork solidified us a little more. Could have been Cork, could have been Wanyama but it was exactly what we needed. Everybody played their part, even Yoshida was solid. Pelle starting to prove himself and Schneiderlin gave a lot for a supposedly unhappy player. Fantastic win against my most hated team in the league, very, very pleased.
