I meant Harry Redknapp has no choice but to let him go. You think Remy would turn down Chelsea to stay at QPR?
I think most on here viewed Remy as a good option to take. What are your opinions on Remy vs Balotelli when we consider both footballing and other (financial / health / off-field factors)? I personally would have preferred Remy, at £8.5m is cheaper and more versatile option and complements our style better.
Remy is more versatile, cheaper and less controvercial. Balotelli is younger and the more gifted talent of the two.
Sigurdsson anyone Top season with Swansea 2 years ago.. Never really got a decent chance at Spurs having always been shifted out on the left. gone back to Swansea and a goal against the mancs plus leading assists at the moment with 4 including 2 today.
Don't know he picked a bigger salary at Spurs over us 2 years ago. Shows Rodgers likes him though if he tried to get him. We're better now... aiming higher targets now? We never went back for Eugene Linnet after failing to sign him in January.
Balotelli for me 100%. He has world clss potential that just needs unlocking, can Rodgers do it? Time will tell. Remy is in that 3rd baracket of strikers imo (nothing special, but good enough to be a decent squad player)
Re sigurdsson.... Do it for more than 3 games do it against a decent side Re badontelly v Remy... Honestly I think Remy would have suited more, just wondering how badontelly will integrate in frankly
We are only saying Remy because he can play wing and striker but as a forward he doesn't score enough and needs too many chances for goals. Plus he doesn't assist a lot so playing on the wing says to me he cuts in.
I would have picked Bony! Telly is more of a gamble. He could be better than Remy he could be worse. Remy is more the sure thing but would never be as good.
He's a 1 in 2 striker. 27 in 51 for Marseille in 2 full seasons. 6 in 13 for QPR 14 in 24 for Newcastle I'd take that from a 3rd choice striker.
When push comes to shove, we must just trust the club on this. They wanted him, he wanted to come here, the price was excellent.... then he had the medical (in the US?). The fact that there appears to be no hitch to the Chelsea move is irrelevant; something was not right, and we can only speculate what that was. But Liverpool couldn't have just flown him across the atlantic, agreed terms then changed their mind and conveniently blamed it on a medical with bogus intent - they'dbe wide open for legal action for defamation of character for one (and surely the doctors would be subject to medical malpractice had they deliberately falisified their checks). Had we bought a crock, or had Remy failed some drug test (though I'm not suggesting that IS the reason in this case) and it then transpired that we'd fudged a medical to get him in there would have (justly) been uproar from fans and owners alike. It's disappointing, (and he's just nailed on to score against us now, isn't he ) but sometimes you have to bite the bullet. Any fellow old farts remember the allegations of frank Worthington's failed medical back in the 70's?
Worthington was a real journeyman entertainer, great to watch. Anyone remember a goal he scored when he was at Bolton(I think) where he was facing away from goal and flicked it over his head totally bamboozeling the defensive line and stuck it in the back of the net.Late 70's I'm guessing. I'll try and find it
Remember that worthington goal well. He was probably p****d at the time knowing Frank. If I remember correctly he used to think of himself as the Elvis of the North.
