Smeaton was the Scottish bag handler who wrestled that terrorist in Glasgow airport.

I've been mugged, I my defence I was unconscious and lying in my own piss. In the m&s doorway in York, they left the pink mobile phone I'd never seen in my life. <laugh>

Went to the Western Wall in Jerusalem some years ago and met an old Jewish man who told me had been going there for 60 years to pray for world peace. He explained that he wanted to see all religions to get on together, all wars to stop, all politicians to do right for the people rather than themselves, and that all children grow up in a world full of peace. I asked how he felt after 60 years of prayers - he just looked at me and said "have you ever talked to a wall".

On a serious side Smug, I walk through Euston and Kings Cross every day, done so since long before 7/7.

I'm constantly on the look-out. I was at King's X on 7/7, within minutes of that bomb going off.

Two work colleagues were on the bus that was blown up. One of them was a young Muslim lad, the nicest most genuine guy you could ever hope to have the honour of knowing, and was very seriously hurt on that bus. It was many months and several operations before he came back to work.

By sheer chance, my ex-boss, was close by and was photographed pulling people off the bus. He walked away and was never identified by name (as far as I'm aware) and never mentioned it afterwards. He was a hero.

We'd all like to be a hero Smug, but true heroes come from those we see around us everyday. We just don't see them for what they are.

All sounds to me like they are getting people scarred, so they will get the public backing when they send the lads into Iraq. Bit of a diversion tactic, scare the public into backing what they are about to do.

Some may doubt this theory, and will say 'no' to sending troops in. If terror attacks do begin to happen in the UK watch people opinions change rapidly.

It's not a case of wanting to be a hero mate, I don't, it's having the opportunity and being justified in kicking one of them to death <ok>

well said that man, and after spending my entire life worrying about this ****, Ive moved out here. i can deal with it but why should my kids have too

you may say its a small win for the terrorists and i suppose in a way it may be. there were many many other factors as well, but this was just another in the "reasons to emmigrate" colomn.

Good luck to you all. ,ok>
