My reasons being as follows: Simpson had a decent season in the championship but his severe lack of pace has always concerned me and his positioning. If Harry sticks with this formation and figures out that its natural left and right midfielders you need in a 3-5-2 rather than wing backs, then Simpson is not capable of playing in that role. He will always naturally slot in at right back causing more chaos to the formation and offering nothing in support of attack. Traore to me has never looked like a footballer. If you require someone to make a bad decision or be able to kick the ball in a straight line and run after it then hes the man. Just doesnt have a footballing brain. If we could get near 5 million between them I would be chuffed. We have isla, phillips and hoillet who can play these wide positions so we may need one more. the signing of mccarthy looks good and shrewd by the club. Wish remy would go if hes going and we get another striker or two in.
Some good points there Bob. I think we just didn't see this coming though. I can only assume replacements are lined up as otherwise we are light on numbers.
If he perseveres with the 3-5-2 then theres no need for either of them but that would be a very naive decision considering our start to the season.
Problem is, do we have replacements? If not then it makes no sense selling them. Also, as I said earlier - it just further rips our promoted squad apart.
Agree regarding Simpson, but Traore has started both of our league matches this season. While we all hope that Yun is good enough, do we have another obvious left wing back, bearing in mind that we set up the Redknapp way, not your more adventurous version?
Two days before the window closes is not the time. If they're not good enough now they weren't good enough two months ago. That's when HR should've shifted them if he thought they weren't up to it. #shambles
We dont have any obvious replacements and thats why it seems so more disorganised than our last premier league campaign. I would agree that its a more adventurous selection but rather that than a 4-0 mauling playing it defensively!
Thor are you telling me that Queens Park Rangers Football Club might actually turn a profit on a player?
Can you now see why I've been crying out for a new left back all summer? Yun has played 10 games in England, all in the Championship/cup (7 QPR and 3 Doncaster). Traore did barely get a chance while in the Championship, why would he now be good enough to play in the Premier League? I've been extremely disappointed in the club and Redknapp for not addressing this sooner, it's three days left including a match day, nuff said! To be fair though, the left back position is known to be the most difficult to fill. Good left footed defenders are rare and the good ones are expensive and plays for the best sides. Think we missed a trick when West Ham snapped up Aaron Cresswell from Ipswich, maybe the best player in the Championship last season.
That is correct my friend. As I said on another thread, from a financial point of view these sales makes sense.
I can see your point Bob and it's consistent with your very informative analysis of the formation from the other day. The problems I see are our inability to pick the defensive midfielders to genuinely play wing backs. Henry would be one but seems out of favour and Ale would have been the other. This means that a 532 is actually a better percentage play with some licence for the full backs (although, again we possibly don't fit that perfectly). The other thing that makes this seem ill judged is the timing - near the end of the window and after some bad results. It blows TFs 4-5 players and Arry's 5-6 out the water and smacks of desperation when the players we have simply need to be sent out ready to chase everything. Having Austin back will hopefully set an example for the others to follow.
Absolutely. It defies all logic to do this now. My biggest worry is that we now ship in a load of loanees who have no interest in the club other than the wage packet. In addition, anyone we try to sign are going to take us to the cleaners on their contract because everyone knows we are desperate. All pre-season the mantra has been 'lessons learned' - by the evidence of the last 24 hours, this is palpably untrue.
From what I have seen in the press (God bless 'em) we have been looking and looking. Would you let Traore go first and then start looking? No, of course you wouldn't. I would expect there to be something in the pipeline. Probably a left-sided defender/midfielder who can play the wing-back. Had we allowed these players to go at the beginning of the window we could have been left in a situation with a squad of 12 or 13 and then there would really be the possibility of being contract shafted by anyone we brought in and every selling club.
Yes. But if they were inevitably going, why 3 days before the window closes? Why do we always leave things so late in the day? We should be doing our business as early as possible to allow time fir the players to gain some familiarity. Do you think we are not going to get contract shafted as it stands?
Possibly Glens decision re these two. If it is after watching a couple of games I am 100% behind it as he has obviously told Arry 3 5 2 is not going to work now or ever with them!!..................... If its Arrys decision on a whim just more bolloks which will rock the boat................
