Which begs the question, "Is Roy Hodgson the worst England Manager ever?"

Possibly the best, depending on which angle you look at it ;)

    Yes. /thread

As an Englishman, I can't help but think I'd like Roy to go now. Rooney, captain? Piss off, bring the new blood through and don't put that sort of pressure on Rooney. Hodgson is tactically inept and his outlook on the game is out of date. England need a young manager with a modern outlook so that they can continue the process of building for the future that started with Euro 2012.

Who would you have chosen captain Cherry? I'd have selected Garry Cahill myself.

Cahill or Hart - or I would've persuaded Gerrard not to retire to act as a national captain but only a squad player in the actual team, like a club captain, and then gave the armband to whoever has the most caps if he's not actually on the pitch. The focus on the captain is way too strong with England.

It don't matter who the England manager is they will still have the same problem of trying to find the best players and there is not a lot of option available to them like years ago due to the amount of foreign players in the premiership now. this is why all the home international teams are so dire and will get worse as more and more foreign players join the premiership. International football is finished in the UK and not worth spending your money on...

Dai - but a better Manager might select different players, players who are in form. Additionally, a better Manager may actually improve how the team would play.

For the left wing I am most suprised because England has suffered there for a while, they have relied on Young and Downing as their stand outs but they never fulfilled their promise even at club level. Roy has nothing to lose really by calling up Routs even if it for back up on the bench, but he is so fast and suprisingly strong (hard to get off the ball) that he can put fear into some of the best left backs. Not saying he would destroy Germany's Lahm but let's be honest that the German is this generations Roberto Carlos and we only see one of them at any one time.

Expanding on Routs vs a Lahm type player, yes I do rate Ashely Cole (very very highly) but Routs has annihilated Cole twice when he switched on to the right against Chelsea since we were promoted. Still Cole is awesome. Just not Lahm awesome.

Maybe it's not a good idea for them to be in the England squad, we don't want their good work ethic ruined overnight now do we!................<laugh>

Apparently, Jeff Stelling said today that the Liberty Stadium is the only PL ground that Hodgson has yet to visit............<yikes>

And long may the prick stay away. Routs, Dyer and Jonjo all deserve call ups after today.

Bias doesn't begin to describe it. It's downright poor management. If Dyer & Routledge played for say Everton (just a random big club in the Prem but could be anyone) they'd have both gone to the World Cup.
