Holtby must be a gonner too.

It'll be sad to see sandro go. Quality player, but I agree, it's inevitable now, IMO

However you rate the player, if true that is some serious under the radar work by Baldini.

Now reports are coming in that a fee has been agreed, but he is to choose between us and Fiorentina.

It's crazy. I know absolutely nothing about the guy, like others I've just watched the YouTube vid and he looks pretty good (who doesn't on YouTube) but it is a weird signing. Completely out of the blue as I said earlier too, apparently he was linked with a move to Swansea but we've seemingly hijacked it on short notice. No ITK or news source got a wiff of it.

Someone on my Twitter did make a good and valid observation though, we're building up the leaders in our squad - we currently have the former Ajax skipper in the Vertonghen, the former Steaua skipper in Vlad, the French skipper in Lloris, the former Sevilla skipper in Fazio and now Stambouli is set to join after captaining Montpellier.

As for Montpellier, they have lost some key players over recent years, Giroud, Belhander, Mbiwa and now Stambouli. Seems they've struggled to replace the quality they let go.

Completely forgot about Holtby. I agree though, he's a gonner I reckon.

Yeah whoever does pick up Sandro from us, providing he stays fit, have got themselves a wonderful DM - the best in Europe in my opinion when 100%. It'll be gutting to see him go.

Hadn't seen the Fiorentina link, though on Montpellier's OS they say that he "Should go to London in the next few hours to undergo a medical and finalize his contract". So I presume he's already made up his mind and the reports are somewhat late?

We've also had a fee agreed too for a week or so. He's flying to London then straight down the M4 ;)

That came out of the blue but please please a striker. Please also don't play Ade in the lone striker role on Sunday Pocket.

What makes you say that Thor? Thought Ade was great against QPR.

Because Liverpool are not QPR and I don't think the lone striker suits Spurs let alone Ade. We've always been more effective with two strikers ie Archibald/Crooks etc.

I see what you are saying Thor but Pochetino's tactics are to have a front 4 constantly interchanging. Which is why you saw Adebayor out on the wings a lot and Chadli in the centre getting on the end of crosses.
I know Liverpool are a different class to QPR but I liked what I saw and the look of our front 4 and I think it's worth sticking with. I think we'll know more as the season goes on but I don't see the need to spend loads on a new striker now. Who is out there for a start? Anyone now is going to be very expensive as there will be a big premium put on as it will look like we are desperate.

Are you having a laugh buddy -"We've always been more effective with two strikers ie Archibald/Crooks etc."

This is modern day football, times have changed. Teams rarely play two up top now.

Whats wrong with Adebayor playing up on his own? I think he does great there.

With AVB's spell aside, Ade's been great as a lone striker for us in my opinion - I've not been his biggest fan for the record though, his attitude stunk at times and I was calling for him to be sold - but with that out the way and taking into account his strike rate of 34 goals in 81 games, it's pretty impressive and I don't think we've had much better in recent years. He's also chipped in with a good number of assists.

Archibald and Crooks were in a completely different era to be fair, in this day and age possession is becoming more and more important and to have possession, you ideally need a 5-man midfield, resulting in just one up top but having a supportive trio behind who link the play.

This new DM smacks of a Levy signing if it means the deal for Schneiderlein is off.

Although I have read reports claiming Swansea will accept 24m for Bony - it may well be that we're saving money by not buying Schneiderlein but still reinforcing the DM role if Sandro is off

24 million is a lot of money.
For that sort of money you would want him starting and who would you drop to fit him in?
I'm happy with what we have, we have more than enough talent in our forward players and unless we could get a reasonable amount for Soldado and bring Bony in then I would leave it.
And if Soldado does stay I'd like him to get a chance in the Europa and maybe with a bit of confidence he may start showing his form at Valencia.

Ok then let's call time on new signings and see how Pocket motivates his players. I have to say that I'm happier with him than that surly, arrogant, conceited prick AVB.

Unsurprisingly, the rumours linking us to Adrien Rabiot seems to have lasted for about one lunch hour.
