Funny how many people go on in the lower leagues or in crisis about wanting a stable well run club... then as soon as they get to the Premier League, they want more.

My personal opinion is the Premier League and Sky Sports killed football in this country and then add in the idiots at FIFA and Uefa and really what have the fans to be happy about?

I am always happy if Saints win and when they lost to a top eight side, home or away it's just 'm'eh, so what?' I do get a bit peed off when we lose at home to Cardiff etc. but not as much as I used to. It's probably age but also I do have a nagging feeling it is the 'not arsed' gene kicking in.

I used to like ice-hockey in this country and then the Elite/Super/ League kicked in and ruined that too...It's always money and greed that ruins it...always.

Am I the only one who loves the Premier League and watching it on Sky Sports, the best football broadcaster in the world in terms if quality of coverage? I don't understand how some people can complain, at least we don't have a league like Scotland. Also, for those bored of English football, there is plenty on offer around Europe and America. La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, MLS, Brazilian Premier League, Argentina Premier League. Some people are so closed off from the rest of the football world imo.

Football became pointless years ago. It's rife with greed, greed and more greed. I go for the day out; the match is almost a side show. I will always support saints no matter what league they are in, i literally love them, but the sport they are stuck in is rotton to the core.

I can understand fans not going for financial / personal / geographical reasons, but saying its because of the player sales etc is ****ing weak IMHO.[/QUOTE]

I'm still enjoying it but I've realised I enjoyed the lower leagues a lot more. The atmosphere at St Marys now is **** it was much better with 18000 in league 1.

I always was realistic in terms of the CL and I hate to bang on about it but this why I always would rather win a cup than get a higher league position, hell I'd probably take winning the FA Cup n going down (ala Wigan) over finishing 5-8th in the Prem.

Saying all this I am happy with Koemans appointment and think he's a manager I'll really warm to which we havent had for a while imo. Plus it's still Saints and that's where all our loyalties lie at the the end of the day so bring on the Hammers!

Ticket prices are too high but I don't see what else there is to complain about. And I don't agree that Sky have ruined football, as it wasn't in a great place in the late 80's before they came along.

Win a cup and go down better than being in the top of the PL....don't think so.

Assuming relegation doesn't lead to financial implosion, give me a cup and relegation over finishing top 10 any day. People will remember who won the FA Cup in 2013. They won't remember who finished 8th.

Yes, but it does often end up with an implosion and it is bloody hard to get back up. Look at Pompey. We were years in the lower league and nearly went out of business...another 26 years in the PL will do me.

Only for badly run clubs. And yes, I certainly include us in that. Plus, our financial implosion started while we were in the Premier League.

Plus, you weren't in the lower leagues for that long.

Judging by the money sloshing about in the Premier League, clearly you're not the only one, no.

Personally I don't really agree. I consider the 1970s to be a golden era for music and football, but that's because my memory has pretty much erased everything that was bad about those days - and plenty was. Quite a lot of the music was ****, football pitches were all like the Somme by January, toilets at grounds stank of piss, racism and violence were commonplace. But we had Led Zeppelin, The Clash, and Mick Channon; and Saints won the FA Cup. So was it better then or now? Dunno. In some ways then, someways now.

Absolutely spot on CBK. I can't be arsed to read beyond this post as it just pisses me off that fans can't summon up any excitement to get behind their team. If we are apathetic in the crowd, it might rub off on the players.

Your last 2 sentences sum it up perfectly, I would love to see Saints win a major honour in my lifetime, for me it would be the pinnacle and the chances are we'll get relegated at some point anyway. Being in the Championship doesn't bother me really; cheaper tickets, better atmosphere and I'd probably be able to make more games.

Also I wouldn't say relegation 'often' leads to financial implosion. Combined with mis-management it can but there are plenty of clubs who don't go completely to **** after being relegated.

He doesn't half talk a lot of sense when he's not going out of his way to be overly obnoxious.
