I see Alonso has said he turned down offers from Premier League clubs as he did not want to lessen his LFC legacy and could not play for anyone else as he enjoyed his time at LFC to much. Does make you wonder if he had stayed if Benitez had not treated him so badly.
I doubt it - I think he would have returned to Spain regardless. However, he loved the club and left with dignity
I think its real madrid. I think the juve price was proven to make rafa look stupid as 12 months on the guy played brill, neve ropened his mouth and got on with it and proved his point. Real came and he was always gonig then... and fair play same as suarez. the top three stupid things were 1. racism 2. saying he wanted to go when arsenal offer came in 3. biting in that order. he is lukcy he got out on a high but wish him well at barca? nah not after arsenal comments... f that.
right mish mosh isn't it when you look in cold light of day. Can and moreno look to be fantastic potential if they can get a run and work hard the sky is the limit. I'd like to add markovic to that but have not seen him play (danilo says he is as good) Manquillo is decent but not a top player but decent is ok Lovern is a mad beast. who i hope really settles Lambert is still a 3rd choice which is kind of a ok but shrug Lallana is annoying, not quite downing annoying but he sticks out like a sore thumb as too expensive for too little and then there's bad on telly... oh i'm sure he's a nice lad but f me... all in all..... we need sturridge and sterling to step it up and henderson to stop playing like he played a WC final 2 weeks ago.
because your mate is wrong more than he is right! That being said... I wouldn't expect much more to be coming in with how much we've spent already anyway.
Decent but not fantastic considering how much money we spent. We did a Rafa all over again- went for quantity over quality.
I'm hopeful that Markovic and Can can become stars given time. They have potential that we can make them into stars. Lambert and Lallana are tier 2 players. They're too old to ever become stars. Both useful in the squad but not really going to be 1st team regulars. Lovren is a really solid pick. Manquill bit of an unknown- has debuted nicely. Moreno - I'm getting Aurelio vibes... think he will be decent enough if not spectacular... when not injured.
Exactly, 4 of those 8 are young enough to have big futures and have plenty of potential, 2 of which already have solid CL experience (Malkovich and Can). Balotelli may be a divisive character around here (I for one didn't particularly care for him coming) but has done the business at top levels (when he can be bothered). Lovren is going to be a solid defender when he settles and Lambert is decent backup for next to nothing. Lallana is the one that sticks out a bit, but he had a good season last year, lets hope he replicates.
Ibe has gone on season long loan to Derby. TBH I don't see the rationale, we're only a few injuries away from being quite light upfront imho, especially when we get into the rhythm of two games per week
I think we did need quantity a bit though. Squad depth is vital. I dont see a single weak signing there. Not world class (though there is world class potential). You could also view it like this: Cissokho - Moreno Moses - Markovic Aspas - Lambert Can, Lovren and Lallana fill holes that were completely empty in our squad last season and are very decent players. We now have the option of real muscle in midfield, leadership at the back and a player who can offer both energy and creativity in midfield or wide. Manquillo could turn out to be a very decent RB option. We have improved the weak links from last season. The weak links in a team that finished second in the league. Giving us a more solid and balanced squad over all. Balotelli may not be Suarez, but he should not be judged as a direct replacement. We have to change our tactics a bit with out Suarez. Balotelli is a very decent striker to bring in. Our signings are almost all very young to, meaning longevity. Dont under estimate how important and smart that is. Signing older, peaking players is why Chelsea only dominated for three years before dropping.
There's only ONE that didn't happen and that was Robben. The situation with Suarez at the time ****ed that one up.
