I don't care if we win every game from now until the end of the season, if we sell Holtby and sign Welbeck I will draw a disrespectful moustache on the Pochettino poster that hangs above my bed. Don't push me, Poch!
Welbeck will be an upgrade on Holtby. I just dont understand people slagging off Welbeck. If we do sign him im looking forward to seeing the changes in peoples posts on here.
Welbeck comes across like campbell...that striker from man utd we had on loan we we sold them berbatov...runs around a lot
He's really average imo. He can run and is quite strong but that's about it. His finishing is erratic, his touch is poor and he dives. I was hoping we had higher standards for that if we're trying to play better football.
Totally agree, he is no better than F. Campbell in my opinion. Has been hyped up by the United loving media for a few years. Why sign a player who is not wanted by a team below us in quality?
I'm ticked off that anyone s saying we're dying to pick up Man U castoffs, and would be more ticked off if it was true. Kane is far better than Welbeck. He's started two games and scroed two goals. He came in as a sub in one, and assisted for the game winner. And Welbeck's going to do anything like that? Holtby isn't a striker, but I'd much rather have him. Come on. Our squad is much better than United's. Yeah, I'm leaning that way too, since I saw Kane play as one of the "3". But if we buy a striker, we need someone who's going to f**ing score. Someone other than Welbeck, in other words. Remy seems like the best idea. I was distinctly unimpressed with Destra, frankly.
Welbeck on loan isn't a bad signing to make, I'm not a huge fan of his but as long as we aren't looking at paying £10m-£15m and giving him a 4-5 year deal on big wages, I don't see the harm in adding him to the squad for a season. Having the option of another player can only be a bonus, right? He'd probably fit Poch's philosophy and hard working ethic of closing down the opposition from the front, plus, albeit not regularly, does have the odd goal in him. I'm not sure why he's so keen to join us though (if reports are true), I don't see his chances of playing regularly for us any better than his chances at Utd (probably harder with us!) but if he joins, he joins. I'll cheer him on nonetheless.
He should be looking to move to Sunderland or Hull, an ambitious mid table side. I wouldn't want him coming here and taking opportunities off Kane or Soldado. We have enough strikers, and as far as I'm concerned our squad is complete for this season.
I was thinking along those lines this morning. For example wondering where Smalling and Jones (England internationals!) would fit in the pecking order of our centre halves. You could make a case that we have five (yes five) centre halves better!
I made this point too. As far as I'm concerned the only players I'd want from their squad are RVP, Rooney, Mata, Shaw and Herrera.
I don't think it'll be the two you mention who'll lose opportunities, I reckon Poch will see Welbeck as the left inside forward, so he'll be challenging Chadli plus Lennon/ Townsend. I reckon he sees Welbeck as a shot term alternative to what seems his preferred target - Jay Rodriguez.
Has Poch actually ever come out and expressed in interest in Welbeck? Seems to me the rumours are pretty insubstantial, he's still being linked with Arsenal and other clubs too. Anyway, I really really don't rate him and don't think he'll add anything to our squad that we don't already have. Would rather we tried to improve Townsend, Holtby, Kane etc.
In fairness to Poch, he says he'll never talk about another team's player so he keeps pretty schtum regarding any target. I agree, I'm not his biggest fan but like I said in the original point I made, if he joins, he joins, it's an extra player to choose from for Poch so it gives options, which I feel can only be a good thing. Arsenal would be a far better destination for him, Giroud's out and Sanogo isn't good enough. He'll get a good number of games there.
There are rumours that Hernandez is up for sale too. Out of the two, I far rather have him, personally.
He attended the MK Dons slaughter in person, supposedly to watch Welbeck, and went on to use it as an illustration of what not to do to the squad, apparently. Focus on every game, don't take any opponent lightly and make sure that you do your job against whoever you're playing.
