A distraction fae whit? Top of the table clashes with ICT? It's not the big show but I'll be treating it as more important than any domestic stuff. If we win the league and no cups but get to the quarters or the semis of the Europa, I'll be happy with that - meanwhile, idiots will be bemoaning "the lack of a treble". I don't ever treat a treble as a target - it's ridiculous and I don't think any individual domestic comp, apart from the league, is worth more than the Europa - the only reason the league is worth more, in my eyes, is the UCL qualification. Just my tuppence. I'm sure others will disagree but Europe is where it's at for me.
Have you seen our team recently? Might scrape 3rd in our group. I think then we drop down to the Petrofac Training Cup?
Fair enough. I was trying to set a baromoter of "success". So, I'll re-align it. As long as we don't get horsed in the Europa, I'd prefer that to getting horsed and winning a treble.
I would have preferred bigger teams, Astra Today was the first time I had ever hear of them, Red Bull I heard of before but I couldn't tell you anything about them at least I knew who Zagreb are. Turns out Astra knocked out Lyon and Red Bull got knocked out the CL by Malmo so this is anybody's group if we can get it together. I;m putting on my happy face and going to try and enjoy the Europa league its better than no euro campaign.
The Europa games are probably the only ones I'll go out of my way to see - might even go to Austria once I get the dates.
I'd rather play Caley than FC Astra. FC Astra The Europa League is footballing equivalent of the party where all the gimp kids who can't score drugs go to.
I agree ... The target is now Europe beyond Xmas. The League will take care of itself. Hopefully see more like McGregor making a breakthrough in the league.
****ey europe is better than no europe... CP will be lucky to see c20,000 on league days That will rise to about c40,000 for Europa European football is also a lure for some players.
Last time were in the europa league, we had Atletico, Udinese and Rennes. This time; two teams that are distinctly "meh" and one I didn't know existed. If you're going to get humped in europe, it might as well be by someone you've heard of. Expect bumper crowds of ~20,000 to those games.
I'm not arguing that point. What I'm saying is that the Europa League doesn't excite me one little bit and that ****e draw just compounds my lack of interest in it. Lille are the best team in the group () and like Celtic have spent the last few years pimping their best players oot to English teams for ridiculous fees.
