Do posters feel United are losing a bit of their soul and Unitedness (we promote youth not £) by buying their way back into the big four? And by sacking managers after months rather than years... like Chelsea you may have to hire and fire three or four managers before you get the right man.
Not really. Simple fact is areas of the squad haven't been reinforced when needed. It's just hit a point where there are big holes in the squad.
Sign of the times. SAF was the only manager in the PL able to win anything with kids and without massive spending. Now he's gone, we have to join Mourinho, Pellegrini etc and buy our success. Still, even if Cleverley and Welbeck leave, at least we do still have a few young home grown players in the squad who have a chance of making the grade.
What about it? Cech, Ivanovic, Terry and Mikel are the only players in Chelsea's squad from when you last won the league, and only two of those actually seem likely to play. Bringing in 21 new players in 4 years doesn't seem to have hurt your chances - bringing in six or seven in one summer won't hurt ours.
This. Just shows how great SAF was to be able to win the league with a squad that two years later is deemed completely useless. It's not like we could just bring in Avram Grant and match his performance...
We're playing catch up due to the Glazers controlling the purse strings while they lumbered us with a massive debt. Now it's in control, to an extent, they are splashing the cash in a mental panic to try to keep their cash cow in a position to keep making them money. It's a s**te state of affairs but needs must or else we'll be f**ed for a decade. This doesn't mean we've abandoned the hope of promoting youth though, it's a quick fix. We also sacked one manger. One. Therefore no need for the plural. We lost our identity the minute someone decide to remove 'football club' from the badge anyway.
The wumming is getting more feeble by the hour... The way United behaved was the consequence of having one successful manager for several decades. Once you have a successful team you can inject youth, in small doses. Unless you have a unique occurrence like the mergence of Giggs, Scholes, Nevilles, Beckham all at the same time. Even then you need to have the solid top class experienced backbone such as Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister, Keane, Cole, Van Nilsteroy to ease them in. The last few years have been poor in terms of recruiting for the future. The f**ing GGs and the board spent more time paying the huge debt repayments than reinforcing an increasingly aging midfield and defence. That United could walk that premiership with 11 points indicated more the poverty of the other teams than the strength of United. That same team got clobbered in Europe when it faced a decent opposition that season. That should have been the signal to the club hierarchy that reinforcements were urgently needed. So the way to strengthen a poor team, low in confidence, where the most experinced players are leaving or have left is to put youth? Even the RS are not deluded enough to propose that. Yes, if it means firing and hiring managers and the players to get the right team and be like Chelsea, I'll take that.
Do posters feel United are losing a bit of their soul and Unitedness (we promote youth not £) by buying their way back into the big four? That comment alone is a bit rich coming from Chelsea. When the mole ( I prefer rat) Kenyon sneaked off to Chelski with SAF's list of wanted players, they were all purchased at over inflated prices and huge salaries.
Aye, but Drogba hasn't been with Chelsea continuously. If we were to sign Ronaldo, it wouldn't give us continuity with our 2009 team.
f**ing Woodward said that he is prepared to break any price record to bring the very best, What is he doing about that? I bet no one will have any doubts about our CL chances if he were to come back to United... (one can only dream...)
United may find out that buying success like Chelsea and City is not this easy. They may have to endure a carousel of managers and players before they succeed again. If LVG does not work out, who is next?? I guess Rafa is the obvious one
I forget he won the Premier league all those moons ago. Shocking really, when you consider how inept the silly **** is these days.....My left testicle is a better tactician than Wenger.
Wenger did really well for a while and it is precisely because he didn't spend that Arsenal have only managed to just hold on to top 4.
