I see the thread is bubbling along nicely today .............. good, good.

Our canteen offers 3 main courses each day, today's being: (1) Chilli con carne (2) Tuna steak with lemon butter and parsley or (3) Vegetable lasagne.

I really am torn for choice between that little lot and may have to forego may daily visit to the amply-stocked salad bar. Current betting would be 6/5 FAV tuna steak (fish Friday), 7/2 Chilli, 6/1 Veggie Lasagne.

Good to read John Gosden saying that Taghrooda remains firmly on target for the Arc on today's Sporting Life website. Easier underfoot conditions should suit.

The legend that is AP McCoy ought to be bagging at least a treble again today at Bangor - a couple of very tasty rides for Donald McCain at a track where he likes to have winners <ok>

Rumour confirmed re the salmon. Although it’s likely to be drowned in a gallon of parsley sauce.

Won’t be backing this one so regular readers don’t all rush down the old betting shop because of this recommendation but I’m greatly looking forward to seeing how TIME TEST fares at Sandown Park (3.00). Was rumoured to be Mr Charlton’s best 2YO prior to his debut for which he was sent off at 8/11 for but when pushed came to shove at the old business end of that heat he appeared somewhat ‘unwilling’ to go past the long time leader. Evidently has a huge amount of ability, is superbly bred and is in every future big event bar the ‘Boat race’ but that previous ‘kink’ will have needed to have been ironed out of him. Its been 6 weeks since his debut and if Mr Charlton has indeed done this then he should win easily today. However, wouldn’t want to take prices about him of Even money until its established that ‘unwillingness’ has been eradicated from his psyche.

    Good luck, pilgrims.

I think the Tuna steak would be a 1/5 shot for me Oddy

Looks like it's corned beef sandwiches for me, a bag of mcoys and a bar of Galaxy

I'll need to take a look at the tuna steak in the old "pre-parade ring" before getting involved at those odds cityhull.

Nowt wrong with corned beef though, I must've consumed tons of the stuff down the years but it never fails to hit the mark <ok>

Oh, I would trade in the fish and chips for a corned beef hash any day. Gotta love that stuff, a close second to Black Pudding in my favourite foodstuffs.

Oddy, I will have a couple of quid on the chilli.. I know that the Tuna in our place always sounds more interesting than it looks!! A tuna steak is a special thing, it deserves respect, not that these heathens understand.

Take the sea taxi from Dubai Marina Yacht Club (about £5) which will take you all around Dubai by sea, including the Atlantis, then head to the Old Souk and wander around for about an hour, get a cab from there to the Burj Khalifa (pre book online much cheaper and no queuing),have dinner at Madinat Jumeriah after cocktails at The One and Only Dubai Marina. Worth seeing the Dubai Mall for the sheer size of it, downstairs is an ice rink and some great art exhibits (including a waterfall), the Mall of the Emirates has a snow dome which is interesting and the dancing fountains back at the Dubai Mall are a must in the evening.

Diamond Mall on Sheik Zayed Road (nr Noor Islamic Bank) do very good quality rings at good prices - it's basically a shopping mall with hundreds of diamond sellers competing with each other for your business.

The key with tuna steak is to not drown it in too much sauce! Speaking of evening meals, i am supposed to be going on a second date tonight yet have no idea where to go. Should i go for the safe italian option or be a bit more risqué? Or i could always just take them to the bookies to watch the evening racing action at Wolverhampton <laugh>

Oh dear, best not tell Mrs B.

Thanks for the info, I think we are staying in a cheap place near the Dubai World Trade Centre. Having looked at transport (and being a little confused) I am guessing taxi is the best way to get anywhere?

ste: Remember what I told you, listen carefully to the handler's instructions. They are mean beasts in every respect. Worked in Dubai briefly in the mid- and late- '70's. Very rustic then, the hotel was the Ambassador, probably a dosshouse nowadays. Bahrain was then a lot better.

Today, my better half's own fish curry (definitely sea salmon and cod) with Basmati rice. Very 'ot, not for amateurs! Complete with my favourite beer of course.................

Fancy Wolf Of Windlesham for an E-W punt in the mile Nursery at Salisbury. Barry was always good at laying out a horse for this sort of event, hope Chas can do the same with this colt.

good to see so many posts today although it could be the Saturday Kitchen thread, I have opted for a good McCoy day albeit very poor prices to go with Sticks suggestion with diminishing odds. I am going for a paupers option for brunch, health sardines on toast.
