Hinders the league form, but I would love to be in the Europa league, just for a taste of European football. There was talk of merging the EL and CL, that would be a good idea imo. Not much money in the EL
There is that perspective, but then you see how some managers view the Europa League, Pochettino openly said last year that he didn't want to qualify for the Europa, you wonder if there is much point in it. Could just add a few qualifying round on to the CL, the best teams would still make it into the group stage We were so close last year to European football, if that Toure goal didn't go in, I'm 99% sure we would have went on to win
Rather than combine CL and EL I'd rather it went the opposite way reinstating the cup winners cup, that way it stream lines the EL going back to the old knock out system and losing the painstaking qualification rounds. I want to CL, cup winners cup and uefa cup back. That way I'd relish any appearance we managed to get in a Euro comp instead of being punished for qualifying.
God I understand what your saying mate. But I was sitting in the pub earlier when the draw came on the box and there was at least 2 teams I had never heard of. I watch too much football as it is, but had never heard of them. I shall have to look them up the morning.
Newcastle qualified for Europe when they got to the f a cup semi finals one year !, the only time in history it happened as well. If say Man c, Chelsea, Arsenal and us get to the f a cup semi's we should get into Europe next season. And an interesting question is if Arsenal had went out of the champions league, would they have played in the Europa league ?
Just had a look at the draw in full myself mate. Ludogorets Razgrad, never ever heard of 'em. Can't imagine they'll bring much to the table. Never know though
Don't think the FA cup semi final situation you described would work mate. It would go to 7th/8th spot If Arsenal went out in the qualifying stages they would have entered the Europa league draw, that's what happened with Celtic, although they should have been out of the CL in anycase
He doesn't convince me at all mate, my housemate is a Palermo fan (he's from there), and while the lad has talent, he is wildly inconsistent, lazy, prone to injury, and loves a rave. If i were a betting man, I am convinced he will fail to set the PL alight
