Yet thousands could afford to go to London twice in a few weeks and pay a lot more than £20 for a ticket. For the quarter final they couldn't afford £20 with no travelling. And your remark is a bit daft as last season there wasn't a phenomenal difference in price between watching City play Man Utd and other clubs.
My season pass meant I paid about £20 a game for PL football last season
I'll bet that a lot of people who couldn't afford £20 tonight would suddenly be able to find £30 or more if we ended up playing one of the European glamour clubs.

    Spot on Mr Casual.....

Usually it doesn't bother me that much if we lose .

But losing this game has really pissed me off big style .

We should have played our strongest team in both legs .

Was really looking forward to getting to the group stages even IF we got no further.

We just might NEVER see City in Europe again.

Pissed off big style......so unlike me that's for sure .

Even MORE pissed off because I could not go tonight ....

I would have done BUT my once a month important appointments fell today and tomorrow.

I'd kick Steve Bruce up the arse myself for NOT playing our Strongest team in Europe .

    Grrrrrrrr.

    Curse Curse .

Of course it was partly due to poor play but should you risk it without putting our best side out? We have injuries, suspensions and poor form anyway to cause rotations without having to get carried away.

What about those people on dole, when £20 is more then a quarter of a weeks dole money? Wouldn't you say spending more then a quarter of your money on a ticket for football is illogical spending?

We shouldn't even have been in Europe in the first place.

Runners up getting into Europe is ****ing stupid.

I've absolutely no doubt he would say it would be illogical. If anything you're strengthening Peter's point.

Just got back from the game, feeling a lot of mixed emotions..

Ref seemed very biased, we touched their players, free kick to them, 2 players equally go for the ball, free kick to them, their players all over us, nothing! it was ridiculous..

Bruce should have played the best team available and gone for this "once in a lifetime" opportunity. its ok saying he's got to think about the prem, or he's worried about injuries, bollocks. end of the day, safety in the prem is decided over a whole season, our european adventure was decided tonight! he should have played a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3 robertson at LB, Brady at LW, Rosie at RB and Ince RW, thudd & livermore in the centre... quinn would have been better in hindsight as livermore was one of our worst performers tonight for me.

I for one think Bruce bottled it tonight. fair play to them, they came here to play, they didnt sit back at all.

Yes we can concentrate on the league, but we're out of europe because we weren't brave enough.

You can't stick out a full strength team when we have one crocked for the season, one striker gone, and a Long way to go to Christmas.

I am sad, and annoyed, but trying to be realistic.

We have the league and fa cups too.

I think that Bruce is secretly happy about it.
    Think about it.
We run the risk of our team picking up an unjury.
We don't get much cash for winning.
I bet SB is well aware of second season syndrome... although I am a bit disappointed about us going out of a competition (and I know it sounds a bit cliche) but we can concentrate on BPL now.

I'd rather we had won the FA Cup, though some here seemed to think it didn't matter whether we did or didn't.

But it's probably no more stupid having runners up entering this competition than it is having runners up entering the so-called 'Champions' League.

Not sure how it strengthens his case Tuckin but that's why I wasn't there. I couldn't justify to myself to spend a quarter of my money on a ticket.

I'm not talking about that. If you can't afford £20 then fair enough but somebody was saying that they didnt go because they couldn't afford programmes and beer as well.

So only the Champions and cup winners should play in Europe?

He was taking someone to task for talking about buying programmes and beer while saying he couldn't afford it - which was illogical. He wasn't criticising people who couldn't afford to go.

[EDIT: And I see he's beaten me to it with the same explanation.]

    Well, yes.

Europe should be reward for being successful - not a consolation to strive for instead of going for glory.

Look at the CHAMPIONS League - how can you call it that and have Arsenal ****ing qualify?
