To be honest if you look at the strength of the sides progressing we would have never won the full thing, maybe progressed a bit further but still.

Blessing in disguise for me. We are not ready to play in Europe yet. Six extra games between now and Christmas - and more after Christmas if we did well. Don't have the resources for that. One step at a time. We need to try to consolidate in the Premier League first. The extra quality signed in the summer is a good little step forward and a sign of the greater credibility we have after last season. The first taste of Europe wasn't a disaster either - what would have been a winning strike cleared off the line in the last seconds of our 4th European tie. Good taster, now total focus on the next game.

However it's not the end of the world us being out. We can say we saw Hull City in Europe, and that's amazing, but the Premier League should take priority as it gives more money and we're in the best league in the world.

I would love us to be in Europe, however we're still in a place where most City fans thought we'd never be - having a fantastic team in the Premier League.

I'd rather go out on the away goals rule to Lokeren than progress further and be absolutely smashed by the likes of inter milan.

I think losing Snodgrass wouldn't have helped us either even if we are making a few more signings, Brucey had ear-marked him for the Europe games I think

 

Having already got 4 points from 2 league games, sending out a disjointed team to try and over turn a one nil deficit is poor management IMHO. I doubt we'll get this chance again soon. I mean it only took 110 years to waste our first opportunity.
