Manuel Almunia has been forced to retire from football following the discovery of a potentialy fatal heart defect. I wish him all the best with his health and thanks for everything he gave to football http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28966630
As a Watford fan I whole heartedly agree. had 2 excellent seasons with us and was regarded as a real gent off the pitch. He will forever be remembered at our place for "that penalty save" which saw us through in the play off semis. I wish him the best for th futurte.
Almunia is very lucky that he was having a medical and the problem was found. Here's hoping everything works out OK for him. This story just shows the power of social media. The BBC & TalkSport are only reporting it today but it was all over Twitter on Tuesday.
Say what you want about his goalkeeping skills but the guy was a prime example of a true servant of the club. Hope he recovers soon.
Glad it was discovered now so he can retire a well man...good luck to him...seems like a decent bloke and football always benefits from that sort of person
Along with the general sentiment of this thread, I would like to wish Almunia, a decent and honest former squad member, a speedy recovery and a happy future. I remember a couple of good penalty saves for us as well.
