Sure, he's probably got a good deal. Anyone know what he is on? (wage wise) However, it shows his commitment and that he believes Watford are heading in the right direction. He could have just run down his contract and got a great deal elsewhere, now this can't happen. Result.
It's fantastic. This has to be the best business we've done in a long long time. I had a feeling he was going to stay this season when he accepted the captaincy but am stunned that he's signed a four year deal.
Just heard him on the radio, he was honest and said it was up to the club if they wanted to sell him. He though his valuation was too much and that after Walsall he won't hand in a transfer request again. He mentioned it is a bit frustrating that he can't play in the Prem yet but happy at the Vic. Fair comments really.
If you are a regular with Hornet Player you would have gathered last night that something was on the cards. Jon Marks was quite jovial talking to Troy about what was going on, yet didn't press him. I have said for some time that I believe the Pozzos see this as the year to go all out for promotion and this in part would support that. My only worry is what happens if he gets injured. I do not see another player of his type on our books. Still I think this has to be very good news and hope he gets his wish. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...promotion_after_signing_new_Watford_contract/
It will be interesting to see what kind of captain he makes. He's still young and I noticed him yelling at Tamas in the Leeds game. That said, we've lacked a real encourager on the field since Eustace went. It could be the making of him but I hope he gets good support in terms of how to motivate different characters and how to keep a clear head when things are going badly.
Quoted from TD. "He said the new terms would keep him at the club for "a year minimum" and that the prospect of winning promotion with the Hornets was more appealing than not getting regular football with a Premier League side." I wonder if he has been influenced by what happened to Vydra?
Nice bit of wedge that! I would have thought so, he must have seen Vydra getting all the splinters out of his ass in training.
Deeney did talk about Vydra in the WO interview and how he didn't get many chances. It seems Deeney did considering leaving but wasn't going to put in a transfer request out of respect for the club and the support of the fans helped him make his mind up.
