completely agree rob. as it happens my choice mackay would have been an unmitigated disaster (though of course i and others never knew the s**t was about to hit the fan). just shows its not easy to make the call when you don't have all the information! i do think adams has done very well - pretty much achieved what i was hoping for so far with regards, points, performances and signings/sales (i expected less on all fronts). its still early days and he is still doing things which baffle me (most managers do this, its not just him) but its a promising start to a difficult job. but that's all it is - promising. he's got a lot still to do. certainly nobody should be lording it over others who had valid concerns at this stage. we all want him to succeed <ok>

also, the situation at palace just highlights how few good managers there are out there. i still maintain had we survived last season we'd now either have lennon or a foreign man in charge due to the lack of talent out there. attracting either lennon or a foreign man to carrow road now would have been trickier - not impossible - but hopefully things will work out for us. i did say at the time it was refreshing to see a young english manager given a chance, even if i wasn't exactly over the moon about it!

One thing we have to remember is just how inexperienced he is and how much he is obviously learning, he will make wrong decisions at times. He has done well thus far, probably his biggest challenge he had was getting a reaction after the Wolves game. I think it was a low point and I know the thoughts of a potential disastrous appointment were going through peoples minds.

My biggest fear is he would insist on the young players and let them have a bigger role than they're probably ready for, which he hasn't to be fair to him. The cup is a great platform for them to sign with relatively low pressure.

So you won't be changing your mind on my promotion poll just yet then?:emoticon-0105-wink:
I thought we were unlucky to go down last year and were the best of the 3 to drop , man for man we are better than any side in this division and we have quite a lot of competition for places all over the park.
Adams was the easiest option but i wouldn't want the same old managers that keep jumping from club to club and he deserves a chance to show what he can do.
Football is supposed to be entertaining and Adams has certainly brought that back to CR i have no doubt we will win this league .

i predicted a 9th place finish pre-season but as i said at the time, we were a complete unknown package. nobody knew how we would respond to going down and nobody knew if the manager was any good. you could stick a pin in the league ladder to determine our final position! i do think, and always have maintained we were unlucky to get relegated due to sunderland's extraordinary end-of-season run and we start this season with by far the best squad in the division in my opinion - but i disagree that adams was 'the easy option' - i think he was a hard option. if it pays off then the board should get some big pats on the back. the football was always going to be more entertaining in this division because we have better players than the opposition and we will win more games. he set us up fairly naively at the back in his opening game but to his credit changed to a much more sensible formation. it wouldn't surprise me if we get a couple of tonkings ourselves this season but we should dish plenty out! it could be that, as with league one, getting relegated could be an important part of becoming an established top flight team. sometimes you need to take one step backwards, but we shall see - i'm definitely not going to go overboard just yet - four games is nothing in this league. its what? two weeks of football.

I don't mind Adams making mistakes at this early stage of his managerial career, but what's important is that he learns from them. Seeing as the side sent out against Wolves hasn't been repeated, perhaps he is learning.

I often think this, generally though I wonder whether that is due to the disconnect between whats seen in training and goes on behind the scenes, baffling moves might be far more logical when put in greater context. Sometimes moves seems so clear but managers strive to do something else the good managers are the ones who do it and have positive effects the bad ones seem to be trying to surprise people but fail.
Adams has made bad calls but seems very quick to learn he changed his system after the first game and tried to make a good change in the defence with Ryan Bennett but was incredibly unfortunate that he had to revert after 3 minutes.
Jury is still out on how good adams will be but i do feel like he is seeing the games as we do which I rarely felt Hughton did.

Might need some tech advice... I came onto this thread to find out about our exciting new midfielder, but it seems I've been transferred to the "Is Adams good enough" thread again. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Cheers Cromer, this is massively exciting. I'm going to assume there will be a late hitch though...

More to the point - how the hell did you do this "Я"? (I just C+Ped yours...)

Still no news. It's starting to look possible that he is just using us to try to get a Premier club interested in him. I hope not. Let's see.

Don't panic Mr Mainwaring - Belgian press are confident he's signed for us:

Would be nice just to have it declared 'official' instead of silly tweets about the Crossbar Challenge. <grr>
