    Swansea City: South Korean Ki Sung-Yueng signs new deal

    Swansea City's South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2018.

    The former Celtic player had one year left on his previous deal and spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Sunderland.

    But Ki, 25, has been back in favour since Swans boss Garry Monk took over and scored in the Swans' opening-day victory over Manchester United.

    "My first option was always to renew with Swansea," Ki told the club's website.

    "I am very pleased with all of the players and staff at the club, so I am very happy to sign a new contract.

    "This team has a great potential, and I am sure that we will be amazing as time goes by."

    Great news this. I'm a little out of touch at the moment just got home from hospital after suffering heart attack. On the mend though.

    I have always rated Ki, and we have not seen the best from him yet, pleased we have repaired last seasons farce.

    Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I avoided the Burnley match on Saturday but couldn't get it out of my head, oh so pleased when it was over.

    What has he done to earn that multimillion pound contract then?
    It wouldn't do for Monk to have any favourites now would it <laugh>
