Are we still going to be paying him £30K a week?

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3665249/Ell-of-a-lift-for-old-boy-Smith.html

Yeah I know it's The Sun so I'm taking it with a pinch of salt.

But why are we letting him go for nothing and paying him £30k a week to play for Leeds? His wages are too high for Leeds to pay? Tough titties don't take him then. Anyone know how long he's got left on his contract? Surely we must be able to offload him somewhere where we don't have to pay for the priviledge of getting rid of him?

    Rant over.

    Happy thoughts, happy thoughts.

If that was the case why dont we just pay him the money to terminate his contract.

I think his contract length is the same as Barton's not 100% though.

Better to let him go to Leeds and pay him £30k per week than keep him here, not play him and have it cost us £60k per week? Can't see any others taking him and paying his wages in full.

At Leeds it'll cost us £1,560,000 over the year. Keep him here and not use him and it'll cost us £3,120,000.

It'd benefit Leeds ot have him back.

It'd benfit uys to be rid of him.

IT'D BE CRAZY FOR US TO PAY HIM THAT MUCH TO PLAY FOR LEEDS!!!

    That's my opinion anyway.

He's in the same boat as Michael Richardson, both are in contract talks supposedly.

This, would rather pay half and not have him here than pay full and him not play

If we can't get rid of him before the end of the window this makes sense. Cut his cost in half for his final year, when i can't see him getting near the first team.

    I think it's fair enough.
    Theres two options:

60k per week to do nothing for us all season.

    or

30k per week to do nothing for us all season.

    Makes sense to choose 30k

Saves NUFC around £1.5 million doing the 30K a week, heard that smith has refused to move on. But this could just be the usual rumour bollocks going around

Paying him off this year makes perfect sense, he would have done bollocks all this year anyway so we're saving 30k a week, in reality.
