The previous thread was derailed by some incredibly bad taste by Tobes. Here is the England squad: Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion), Joe Hart (Manchester City) Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Calum Chambers (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), John Stones (Everton) Midfielders: Jack Colback (Newcastle United), Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal) Forwards: Rickie Lambert (Liverpool), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United) No Flanagan or Johnson. Barkley out with injury. Gerrard and Lampard retired. Also no Lallana, presumably because of recent injury and no Shaw (too fat).
F me.. i make that... 7 top 4 type players and the rest bang on average and yes ox is average its getting beyond a joke now.
Colback!? Oh dear... Delph has played ok but not International level. Townsend has done nothing for the last year so no idea why he's been called up. He's just another Lennon to me.
Unfuckingfair on Wayne!? What the **** has fairness got to do with it? Pick the best person for the job you twat. **** England, it's #waynestimeandmoment
So given that squad and that Rooney must start what is the best team we could put together? please log in to view this image
After the world cup I wrote a thread on a here about what I learnt from the world cup. One thing was that World Cup's are not about star players. They are about grafters. Hard works who get stuck in. I can out some names from the squad that fit this mould very well. Delph, Welbeck and Lambert fit this mould. People will say they are not good enough but actually they are perfect. A lot of squads also have mostly lower PL and Championship players with 1 or 2 star players and do very well because every one puts in a great shift. People will be cruel to this squad for mostly materialistic reasons but I think it is perfectly fine. We know we can pick a squad like Gerany's. But squads like this do regularly reach quarter and semi finals. Roy Hodgson's tactics are the only reason we did so badly at the world cup. To attacking. To open. Not built to the players strengths. Hodgson out.
The midfield will defend better with Delph starting and no one sat out of position. Forcing players to play out of position at the expense of a less famous player who suits the position has cost us to often. Delph was really decent last season and would 100% get in my squad. ------------Hart------------- -Stones-Cahill-Jagielka-Baines -----------Delph------------- --Henderson----Wilshere----- -Sturridge---------Sterling--- ----------Rooney------------- Rooney with freedom to roam.
Wilshere is in no way a deep midfielder. If that's what it came down to I'd rather see Barry come back in if there's no one else
I agree. Plus it will limit his influence in attack. Like it did to Gerrard under Sven. I'd rather it be Milner. But I say Delph.
Upon reflection, Hart is overqualified to be England captain Rooney captains a mediocre team with no expectations for success, thrown together based on transfer fees and media hype rather than an actual gameplan #naturalchoice
