A friend, blimey Dai, if that was how you spoke about a friend, I feel sorry for them. You didn't just disagree with him, you were having a go at the bloke and having a go at anything he did, you had a witch hunt for him, calling him names and all sorts. So don't bullshit. And let me get this straight, we had you moaning like a 5 year old little girl on not606 about HJ, because you did not agree with him. But now others don't agree with him, your telling us we should not care because there is nothing we can do about it, no difference to you moaning, you couldn't do nothing about it either, but it didn't stop you did it. Hypocrite.
Regardless if what we did on the Vorm fiasco is legal , we look bad in a way we would never look before , this is the kind of club we found gems in the past and we may have trouble finding them again because of how we look on this deal ... a bit worrying
Only to you. No-one else is worried. Do you really think a club with turn down our cash if they want to sell a player? Please join the real world. This is business. Many business sue each other but still work together and buy from each other.
Dutch boss lambasts Swansea over Tottenham deal Posted by SPORT WITNESS on August 28, 2014 at 9:10 in Sport Witness Football The Chief Executive of FC Utrecht has come out and spoken about the situation involving an agreement his club had as part of Michel Vorm’s transfer to Swansea City 2011. The player has since moved on to fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur but it has been alleged that Utrecht are owed money from the deal. Voetbal International has reported on comments that Wilco van Schaik made to the Dutch media in which he revealed that he's hopeful they will get a positive verdict when FIFA look into the matter. Van Schaik says that he's spoken to others in the international football community and they think that the whole thing stinks, and he believes that if this particular case isn’t corrected then the whole resale system is pointless. "It remains to be seen, but we are very positive about the verdict. Everyone that we speak to in the international football world recognises that this thing stinks. If this is not corrected, there is no end, and the whole system comes with resale rates on the shovel,” said Utrecht’s CEO regarding the situation with Vorm. The Dutch international recently moved to Tottenham but his former club are claiming that they are still waiting for a percentage of the transfer fee which was part of the deal when he joined the Welsh side. If Van Schaik is speaking to others in world football about the situation then it's not great for Swansea's reputation, the Welsh club don't want to become untrusted on transfer deals. They either need to pay up or make their side of the story clear.
I think that ship has sailed Terror. Hate to say it about a Chairman that has been so good for us but it looks like Jenkins's used car salesman tactics have made us look very bad indeed. If this is true it's very sharp practice (ie intellectually and morally dishonest) and we should just pay up now to avoid further harm to our crumbling reputation.
Frankly I couldn't give a toss about transfer fees or financial transactions. It is boring and nothing to do with me. I am only interested in the football and that the players that are here perform to their best on the pitch.
Trying to save a little money searching for loopholes , at the expense of now trying to save our reputation is just the stupidest thing and reeks of another probable" Personal " decision by Huw .
"It is boring and nothing to do with me." You're entitled to that view but it has everything to do with the Club and us as fans. How we spend money; how we use our resources. All of this has a direct bearing on the events that take place on the pitch. If this is indeed true I think most fans care that their Club's reputation is being tarnished. It makes other clubs more wary of us in our dealings with them, and if we can't land the players we want then in time we'll not have much of a team, and we'll end up right back where we started 10 years ago - or worse. Then I guess you'd realise you should have paid attention.
FC Utrecht making noises again, well I will reserve judgement until FIFA make a decision on this issue, Huw Jenkins is on record as saying we have acted correctly and have nothing to fear, so it will come down to interpretation, seems to me Utrecht may well be throwing the dummy out, because they didn't have a water tight contract. You also have to wonder why they are making such a stink over such a small amount of money too.
What do you deem as a small amount of money Phil, and at what limit do you think clubs should see it as enough money to make a fuss about it? I cant remember the actual details off the top of my head, but was it something like 30% sell on fee? So if (and its an IF) we saved £4m from the Siggy fee due to the swap deal, then Utrecht would be entitled too £1.2m. Hardly small change now is it. Heck we paid £1.5m for Vorm in the first place, so its worth a lot of money to a club, just like Vorm was worth every penny of that £1.5m. Even if we only saved £2.5m from the Siggy deal, thats still £750k. If you think that is small change, your on your own. I must rip you off one day, and if you ever came asking for your money back, id ask you what is the point, its not enough to make a fuss about. Money is money, and if as you say its not enough to make a fuss about, then why don't we just pay it then? I give every toss, thankfully as has been partially mentioned, other fans didn't have that same mindset 12 years ago. If they were all only interested in the football and the players, we would have no club to support.
Utrecht are going to play the angry customer card in front of a store holding a sign saying dont shop here, the store being Europe ...and its so little gain that I know its a "Personal " issue with Vorm and Utrecht rubbing Huw the wrong way behind his back .A lot of stupid things have happened since Feb , this is just another .
I suspose it might make clubs think again about putting sell-on clauses into a sale. It's only happened because we 'sold' 2 players to one club. All a bit underhand, but you have to admire the concept!!
But it is different to 10 years ago. Then we were on our arse end now we are relatively well off and the odd million here or there shouldn't make any difference as long as we are still well run. I think we are and must stop thinking like small towners. Although not a big club we are no longer a small one either
Admire the concept all you want but it stinks and it will have repercussions for more than a few seasons .
You could look at it another way - Swansea will be revered throughout the football world for conceiving a master coup which other clubs can copy.
We use to be revered, thats drying up quick . Kid all you want adam , its false fun ... time will take its toll on the club by the time the Utrecht smear campaign is done .... for what ....
