I'd have disposed of his services at the end of last season. I would never have appointed him in the first place. Blah blah blah.

I agree with Somb, it all just makes me smile. The guy is going nowhere. He is the perfect patsy. Mike Ashley has taken less flack over the last three seasons than at any other time in his tenure. There is one reason for that - Alan Pardew. Pardew is such a dislikeable character that people can comfortably overlook us being the most short staffed backroom wise, spending less money than the rest of the PL (and Championship in some cases). I think Pardew has done a middle of the road job for the resources he has been afforded. I don't see him as the evil some do, nor do I see him as the answer over the long term if we were a club of ambition. He is cheap, subservient and has the added bonus of being a great deflector. Add in he is capable of maintaining a mid table position on a very tight budget, and you have something Ashley will not be keen on firing any time soon.

So it matters not what we would give him. Its how you read the 10 games comment too. My take is he hasn't asked for 10 games. he has asked the fans to give the whole new set up 10 games to bed in then see if we have progressed.
He is just trying to ask the fans for patience to not to create a negative environment for a set of new players trying to find their way in a new league/club. I'd have to agree with him as there is little to be gained by being all doom and gloom. It isn't gong to persuade the owner to bullet him anyway. We might as well get behind the players and try to help them.

The only hope would be if someone came in and took him away. Not going to happen though unfortunately. Clubs with money don't want below average managers.

Problem is very few fans will subscribe to this. A defeat against Palace is no longer acceptable. Someone mentioned the similarities between Man U and Newcastle, but let me suggest there's one main difference - in LvG, Man U fans have a figurehead of absolute trust. They boomed out songs during the embarrassment at MKDons, they know absolutely what is going on at Man U, they know they have a year or more of work to do. Newcastle have Pardew, a figure of much vitriol and a man who has continually eroded trust through both actions and words, can never be afforded such time.

I can't see anyone taking him away. Only a bigger and better club would be able to do that. Which of those as you say would look and say I'll have a bit of him? Zero.

There is little point in looking at Man U. It is a completely different scenario with a club operating in a different stratosphere, with a manager with no baggage as far as they go. I fully agree the fans won't afford the staff time or be patient becaus eof historical elements. I just completely disagree with the notion that it is the best way forward. In any situation I think you have to use your brain, consider the factors involved and pick a route that achieves the best outcome. When you have an owner who does not show any signs of relenting to pressure from fans, I think you only have two choices. Don't go, or just get behind the team. We pick the third and most counter productive choice of going, voicing dissatifaction to make matters worse. If that is not going to achieve the goal you desire, what is the point?

its gone too far already lets be honest any other manager would have gone by now. However, he is unmatched as a **** shield for Ashley so aslong as we stay top 10 he will have no issues....what I don't understand is why he so readily gave up our 433 system?? we have the players to execute it again this season and it clearly isn't in his thinking

Accurate I would think. 14 points should be achievable with our fixtures. The next set of games are harder/banana skins so will want decent points by then
