    Dear not 606 friends,

I am toying with the idea of setting up my own Charlton Athletic FC fans forum, which I am thinking of naming "Into The Asylum".

I have very strong, albeit wildly uninformed views, on a number of Charlton-related topics. For example, I am passionately pro our wonderful owner Roland Duchatelet, his minxy yet promoted-on-merit sidekick Katrien Meire, and all Network players. My favourite foreign country is Belgium, and I have a poster of the Standard Liege team on the wall in my caravan. My favourite European league is the Moldovan 2nd division, about which I am an undoubted expert thanks to the marvels of You Tube.

I admit to being less keen on Charlton Academy players, the Valley Party, any other Charlton website, any real Charlton fans with an IQ above 10, and anything that happened at Charlton before I moved from Cardiff to Wrexham 6 years ago.

The one drawback to me starting my own Charlton website is that I never actually go to any Charlton matches, and thus risk being accused of talking out of my arse on the subject. Will this be a problem do you think?

Please can you tell me, given my above comments, if there is a gap in the Charlton forum world for "Into the Asylum", or is this niche market already taken up by another site ?

    Thanks.

    Dear Sir

As a Chester City fan I feel I can add a touch of ignorance, and self promotion to your proposed site, and I do believe I have all the qualities you are looking for. I am not even sure where Charlton is although understand it was named after that bloke that played Moses in a film, something Heston. As for me, well I am fully qualified to take on whatever is asked of me. I am 48 years young, live with my mother and our three year old Siberian turtle called Billy who can talk. I have been to Belgium and felt very much at home whilst walking along the Arc de Triomphe and the funny shaped trains. At present, I have limited access to google and Wikipedia and when the police return my computer I feel that I can add so much to your site.

If called upon I can have an original thought but this is rarely about football and more likely to be about ponies.

I hope you look upon this short introduction favourably.

Thank you for your application, which will be considered by the Executive Committee of "Into the Asylum" in due course (committee members - Paul May, Reams, and Fantastic Light). In the meantime, I invite you to assume my alter ego of Elsborg Addick, and post utterly bilious s**te whenever you see fit.

I'll have you know that Charlton Athletic Football Club changed it's name in 1966 NOT, as is commonly believed after a Hollywood thespian, but in fact in honour of a couple of athletic footballing brothers who had just won the World Cup for Ing-er-land at the Empire Stadium Wembley ....... the new name chosen by an internet poll was... Charlton Athletic Football Club ........ just to clarify <ok>

Really? Then why did all my school mates refer to us as Charlton Pathetic?

No, not a problem, it already happens on 'another' site so the precedent has been set.

No problem. Just say they weren't my views, I got them from CL.
