There were some difficulties and mistakes but also excitement because it was clear he had a vision. He didn't throw away his philosophy after one half of competitive football.
Would you like to compare squads and recent club achievements too? What about spend on transfers or club turnovers
Rodgers was all tikka tikka at first and we did awful. It wasn't until he realised it didn't work for us (mid oct) that he changed strategy and we started to climb.
We had a pretty bad preseason in terms of results, drew with Spurs, lost to Roma. But the football was good and he gave all the youngsters ago which benefitted the team in the long fun. First five league games were a nightmare. lost 3-0 to west brom with Agger sent off, 2-2 against Man City when we should have won. Lost to Arsenal as I remember. Very hard first five, but all through you could see the philosophy and he never lost faith in the young uns. Aside from Suarez we didnt have any strikers as I remember. Carroll was out on loan and we missed Dempsey on the last day of the window.
You really believe that? You signed Mata, we signed Downing!!! RvP vs Carroll? Felliani vs Joe Cole? Adam too...? Don't get me started on Glen ****ing Johnson LOL
I think that was the most impressive thing about Rodgers. We were told he had no plan B but actually his tactics evolved dramatically to suit the players abilities as that first season went on. Maybe because he is a young manager that was easier for him, LVG however seems set in making the club play exactly how he is used to! The question i think is, can he evolve to suit his player and the PL or can he change the players to suit his game? If he cant do either then last season could look like a good result.
Think they mean, he adapted his "death by posession passing football" he'd used at Swansea in a way to avoid defeat to suit our existing squad...more pace, more direct but he still likes to see the players controlling the ball, getting it back quickly when lost. He has just upped the pace considerably. But then BR was very young really only at the beginning of his career so he could abandon certain ideas more easily if they don't work out. philosophy isn't dogma....that's when you see issues....you hoping the old dog can learn new tricks UIR?
Nope. Just wondering how rodgers started off. He is worlds away from tge 2 before him in terms of style and management. Seems like it took a while for his methods to work and you suffered some very poor resuls along the way.
Fair few veterens of europe and a title challenge though right? Lot of dross though which is true. You were left with youth at times.
